The 12900K + ITX Problem

What a difference a year makes. DDR5 is so cheap now.

Putting an i9 in an ITX build just seems kinda foolish...

Thanks Ali for all your videos and hard work to simplify things. Coming from 2023, I am planning to build a mini ITX with i7 13gen + RTX 4060 ti trio 338mm .. looking for the best case and I can’t find any, do you guys have some recommendations?

i got my mini itx 4090 13900k build complete. Tube management is meh but good temps and runs good

I would go with i9-12900t for itx build. For my purposes best/enough choice

I'm really glad I didn't see this video before I built my system: Asrock Z90i ITX with Thunderbolt 4, 13600K CPU, 32Gb DDR5 and NH-D12S cooler. Case is Fractal Define 7 mini. It was one of the easiest system I ever built, mainly because the top comes off the case. Might be things have changed

Go with the ASUS version DDR5. 12700k paired with Noctua NH-D9L. Make sure you are buying the latest cooler for LGA 1700 compatibility. Fits absolutely perfectly. Super quite and passes all stress tests. 😎

We kinda need an update for 13th gen and some build advice since there are fewer options this time for ITX and some of them seem to be terrible boards.

It looks like the ITX line for Gen 13 is following the same design elements, so the same problems.

Did they ever fix the ram stability issues past 3600 mhz on the board?

Would the Noctua L12 ghost fit on the gigabyte z690 mini itx board? Want to do your FormD T1 build but with the ddr4 mobo, but worried about stuff not fitting.

I hate ITX builds maybe I’m just old school to see everything heat sinking each other kills my soul.

I've seen good work around, by removing a lot of the body armor from the motherboard. Heat sinks aren't really useful at this level considering the overclocking heat output capability versus ATX

At this rate next gen CPU's at least on the I9/R9 side it could very well be the end of small form factor builds.

Dang! 98 degrees Celsius with the best liquid cooler out there this cpu is impossible to cool what a failure

they could just mount the CPU socket on the back then you can install a large low profile cooler with no problems

Dude I just built a regular ATX build using an Asus Rog Strix Z690 with 4 sticks of RAM and based on the wires there is literally only one orientation I was able to put the NZXT Kraken Z53 Cooler I had to put it with the wires doing a 180 so that I could get the cables to go upward. Literally a pain in the ass. I couldn’t make the tubes go downward because of the GPU or to the right because of the RAM or to the left because of the heat sink. Super annoying.

Im returning my Z690 Asrock Z690i Phantom Gaming .It was an easy build to fit my NZXT Aio but the motherboard runs hot frezzing my tripple A games and thats with undervolting mobo and gpu rtx 3070ti .Going to try the Asus mobo and see what happens.
