I suspect you would need some nerve to express even the light blasphemy: but my fair love Was fram'd by hands far more divine, in the years when England was slipping into a religious civil war. Formally the poem's a song; but I think back then its sonnety aspects would have been audible (two strong voltas; long stanzas balanced against couplets). There were so many sonnets around 1580-1610 that people probably listened for the form, the way we hear walking basslines today.

Very interesting verse, in self deprecation akin to the sonnets. Re the change in taste in women. I imagine that it was preferential to have a strong women that would survive child birth. Having said that taste may not have changed as much as you imagine, Anna Nicole Smith was quite admired for her figure.
