800 Free Blender Materials and Textures

the good ones come with blender now. it is not Physically Based so thats why some dont work anymore.

Cant get it working on Blender 3.2.1, any help would be appreciated :)

On 3.x as of writing this comment, it will not work in blender. You need to use 2.8 only for it. Keep in mind this video (at this time) is like 4 years old.

This is some cool stuff. Hafta jump thru a few hoops with 2.9. I don't see folders tho; I just see about 20 Sample Materials.

How it works for 2.9 guys?

i tried to use it but it said upgrade to 2.8x required but i am on the latest version 2.93.1

This works in 2.83 (also in 2.90). I just tried it.
-Unzip archive contents into any folder.
-In Preferences>Addons>Material Library VX - add this folder in "Additional Path".
-In work area: select object>Material Properties>create new material, then scroll below to Material Library VX, select Library from List.

This is the part where everyone has problem: Most people click "Preview Material" but it does not show anything and when you click that button it also "unhighlights" the object. If you then try to apply material you get error.
Solution: Do not use "preview". Click "Apply to selected" and make sure your object is actually highlighted, not just selected. It should be bright orange color, not dark.

For all 2.8 users: just put all the .blend files from downloaded zip archive into the "Blender\2.80\scripts\addons\materials_library_vx" not touching the __init__.py from this folder. And you get addon working!

So happy i don't use 2.8 XD ha ha ha

to apply just click the material button next to the add on list and use cycles render:)

please can you tell me how can I make a UV map using those textures from library and bake it for extracting a png image? when I try to bake them it says there is not a selected image...

my favorite part about this video is when you immediately give up on the tutorial after you cant find one material when you could've used any of them. you didn't say how to use the materials, you just started looking at your instagram.
