Greetings from UK Jim, great honest & clear instructions. Wish all garages were run like yours👍
ОтветитьI have a 2016 Acura MDX with only 45,000 miles and I suddenly have a squeaking noise when the front end goes up and down over a speedbump or if I open the hood and push up and down on the front end. It's definitely more of a squeak than a bump noise...sort of like a very old bed boxspring. Anyone have an idea on what I'm hearing?
ОтветитьYou’re a gentleman. Nice job
ОтветитьVery professional...👍
ОтветитьHow can you tell if strut is bad ? I took severe hit on drivers side wheel and CV axle , lower control arm and the inner tie rod was damaged need replacing . The strut looks fine but some say the strut is likely shot and needs replacing . Took it to this shop yesterday and hopefully start working on it Monday . Some shops sell you on things you don't need . How can I tell ?
ОтветитьIs this being done with weight on front tires?Or lifted To take weight off? Does it matter. I feel like it would lol. Thanks in advance.
Ответитьagree with all the positive comments. the one point that many others don't bring to the forefront is the after-market difference between a lower cost item & a higher cost, but better design benefits. You do have to take into consideration if you're keeping the car long-term,
or getting rid of it. Great video with its detailed pointers.
i enjoyed the pod cast. excellent video of the suspensions parts and what to look for. i have a 201 ford escape with 38,000 actual miles. not a scratch on the under-side. i just got it. Idk. it just feels like something is lose when i am on a side street. other than rthat she is smooth on highway and the busy city streets. is that something that is cause for concern. is there a recall or specific problem that were common with the 2001 Escapes. anybody that can give me some of theior expertise would be much appreciated!! Thanks for awesome video..
ОтветитьWhere are you located
ОтветитьI wish he was my mechanic. 😊
ОтветитьGood luck on her new job.
ОтветитьGREAT VID. Jim is so mild mannered and honest. Great mechanic for sure.
ОтветитьJust did this to my Kia Sportage that made clunking sounds. For the orice and age, I wanted to change them, before looking deeper.
The nuts on them were really in there.
The side by the bushing seemed to be almost in between two sizes, metric and sae.
It just did not hold well and it was so thin, it was hard to get on it fully.
I tried to use locking pliers to hold it.
I managed to get the nuts off of five spots, but theee required a grinder to grind them off.
Now with all four changed, no more clunking.
That was a Great Job. How would you describe this job on a 2012 SRX awd . Should you do both sides. Does the ball joint and stablizer bar all as one too. does it have the moog part? Thanks Lots
Ответить@Jimthecarguy 'i have a similar front end suspension noise [ front left driver side ] on my 2011 Lexus RX 350 that i can feel and hear while driving ( hands on the wheel ) could it also be the same problem /sway bar? if so what is the typical repair price? for doing so.. (more or less) r don't wish to be taken to the cleaners by not so Honest a mechanic as you so obviously are. should i take it to a Toyota repair shop ? or any certified mechanic... please any reply would be helpful.. bought it to use for Uber work? and it's not just annoying but don't feel safe having people in it while this issue persists. Thank you! have subscribed to your channel after searching for an Honest person showing how it all works and how to fix problems with a used car.
ОтветитьYes, indeed 2-make sure putting grease AFTER putting the new part is, must not forget, is an excellent and must do and critical reminder! Well done as always n kudos to the lady who has chosen very competent automotive technician! Well done, Jim! All the key reminders about put 5-tork bit to hold on the center of stubborn nut to come out and NOT to strip bolt head, which will be bad day to find not so easy to find factory OEM nut like that! Of course, always replace set like tire! testing was good even after putting new part we can see NO free play! Put very good penetrating grease to loosen old nut and may be two or even three spray and wait for socked in why some people even briefly touch rusted old nut to warm up nut to loosen, may be or may not good idea or unnecessary!
ОтветитьDoes anyone ever lube their sway bar links?
ОтветитьAre the droplinks interchangeable for left and right?
ОтветитьI had a noise and it ended up being the engine cover shaking making a shuffling noise.
ОтветитьVery clear description of the problem and how to replace the bad parts. Thanks Jim
