The official gamecube controller on some switch games makes some games straight up unplayable due to not having all the inputs. So your point of "it works on all switch games" is moot. Metroid prime remastered doesn't work because they changed the entire control layout even if you put it on classic controls. Nintendo made that port with using a modern controller in mind. I think it works best in games that don't use all the buttons on the joy con and switch pro controller. With the games I tested, don't use the gamecube controller on anything but Smash Ultimate.
Ответитьhonestly, if the Wii U had GameCube compatibility, it would have done at least 12% better.
ОтветитьWhen I got Smash 4, I only got the game. I couldn't afford the adapter and controller. I eventually ended up getting the Smash Bros Ultimate controller and the adapter on the Nintendo Switch. Plus I lost my Nintendo GameCube controllers so it was great to get that controller to play the classics
Ответитьas someone who doesn't own a gamecube, but wants a gamecube controller experience, im glad that Scott says the PowerA controller is pretty close to the original gamecube controller
ОтветитьThe power A GameCube controller is 10/10. I have 4 of them. Tbh I can’t go back to regular GameCube controller cause so I’m reliant on that second Z button.
ОтветитьI have both the wired fight pad and the hori battle pad for my wii and i actually like they are sorta of wireless controllers and love the different Nintendo styles.
ОтветитьSmash for Wii U had the best menu theme. Change my mind.
Ответитьtake a shot every time he says controller
Ответитьmodded wii u consoles can nativly play gamecube roms.
Ответитьhad the powera controller for 2-3 years now. works flawlessly and sometimes i use it for games that arent smash and GC emulation on my pc
ОтветитьThere are a floodgate of chines copycat gamecube controller adapters out there to buy.
ОтветитьHonestly nintendo should just stop new controller designs just make your pro controller a gamecube controller with zl and zr on top and make the c stick a little bigger and call it a day everyone who uses a gamecube controller only wants game cube controllers to play with on nintendo systems the button layout made sense and fit perfectly in your hand
ОтветитьI literally found a gamecube today
ОтветитьBeen using the pdp pad for years now and im a huge fan. Played through several of my favorite games with the controller and for a third party it works super well.
ОтветитьAs someone who was in the smash scene (PM mostly, but also a good deal of Melee) when the Wii U controller adapter was released, the new stock of Gamecube controllers was a godsend for us. High quality 1st party controllers for a reasonable price, plus the adapter worked on PC so we could use them on Netplay through dolphin or other emulators. They didn't work natively through dolphin yet though so we had to install a 3rd party app to get the pc to recognize it as a controller, but I was doing that already to get my PS3 controller to work on Steam games back then anyway so it's not like this was a huge deal breaker if you wanted to play something on PC at the time.
This isn't even mentioning Nintendont on Wii U, which was a hack for the game that utilized the Wii U's Wii-mode to natively run gamecube games through a flash drive/SD Card and worked with the adapter as well (as well as other bluetooth controllers like the pro controller and others). So it's not even theoretical anymore, the Wii U literally could play gamecube games natively, but it's disc reader wasn't able to read the gamecube discs even with Nintendont so we had to use digital storage (which honestly, around this time was when Melee Discs were really starting to go up in price, so honestly it may have even been for the best that it couldn't read discs. If you had Nintendont on an old Wii model that still had gamecube controller ports than that would be able to read the game disc for you though.) Being in the smash scene had been the most accessible it had ever been in a long time.
Surprised you didn't bring up the fact that Nintendo re-released the REGULAR Gamecube controller recently (again) with the Smash Ultimate branding on it. While I think it's cool, it struck me as odd that Nintendo themselves didnt just use the exact same OEM components to the GC controller that everyone craves for Smash Bros, but then add Switch compatibility and the extra buttons it needs WITHOUT compromising on anything else. Also blows my mind how NONE of these 3rd party gamecube controller for switch manufacturers can go buy themselves a real OEM GC controller to use as a reference point for theirs. You see these GC-style joycons, for instance, which could have SO MUCH POTENTIAL, but then always falls short somewhere, be it the button quality, the triggers, etc.
ОтветитьGod I accidentally bought the gold Zelda one not knowing it ones that connected to the Wiimotes existed cause I wanted a cool Zelda themed controller as my gamecube controllers always want to be bad... and I was so pissed when I saw that it didnt connect to the console, but the remote, thus making it worthless for me... and the ebay seller wouldnt refund or let me return it...
ОтветитьNYXI: allow us to introduce ourselves
ОтветитьI like the PowerA one. It’s pretty nice, though I had to put screws in the triggers to make them have less travel :/
ОтветитьThis is Scott The woz with his adhd meds
ОтветитьHold on why they didn't make the game cube controller a wireless controller ?
ОтветитьI felt so called out as soon as he pulled out that Metal Mario gamecube controller lmao...that was literally the one I got to fill the GameCube controller/adapter void on Wii U. Not a terrible controller from what I remember.
ОтветитьTake a shot every time he says "GameCube Controller "
ОтветитьTake a shot every time he says “Gamecube controller”
ОтветитьIts a shame they never released game cube joycons. There was a video during 2020 where someone made custom ones. Thankfully NYXI came out with a similar concept but wasnt officially licesned, so theres not much accuracy in the button design
Ответитьthis metal mario looks dope!
ОтветитьI'm surprised you don't own the MK8 Wii U
ОтветитьIt's a GameCube controller
Ответитьcool how the wii u adapter can be soooo helpful and restore gamecube controller functionality for gamecube games, IF YOU JAILBREAK
Ответитьo hell yea, I wanted to collect the fight pads. They are decent, but not really, but kinda okay, and they all have matching wii remotes. I like em
ОтветитьIs it a GameCube controller?
Ответить"It's a gamecube controller"
- Scott (The Woz) Wozniak
Buyer beware: I bought a PowerA controller and not long after, the left stick started drifting. It doesn’t even turn on anymore.
ОтветитьI remember getting my GCN controller for Smash 4. I was maybe in fourth grade at the time? I got it in my easter basket and was elated. I took it out of the box... Only to find that I needed an adapter haha, which I got a few weeks later
I still have the controller and adapter, and I ust the controller on my WIi nowadays.
If Windwaker and Twilight princess used them it would be great
ОтветитьDo a video on 3rd party GameCube controller adaptors
ОтветитьShame they didn’t put GameCube controller support in Wind Waker HD
ОтветитьWireless with analog though?
Ответитьperfect
ОтветитьLet's be honest, the gamecube controller's d-pad was kinda bad to begin with. Changing it is probably an improvement.
ОтветитьDo the Wii U and switch branded controllers work for the Wii?
ОтветитьTake a shot every time Scott says "Gamecube Controller"
ОтветитьI actually hace the PowerA controller, and I must say, its my go to controller 9/10 times.
Ответитьtaking a shot everytime scott says 'gamecube controller',see yall next year
ОтветитьI had the Wired Fight Pad. Specifically the Luigi version. It was ok,
ОтветитьIf you can homebrew the Wii U I'm sure it can play GC discs natively
Ответить❗️My Timestamps:
❌️NONE GIVEN!
I have the wired GameCube powera and eventually it got controller drift so that was nice while it lasted
