On the latest episode of "Fireside," journalist Rupesh Shrestha has invited the General Secretary of Nepali Congress, Mr. Gagan Thapa. Gagan stated that, in order to establish political stability in the country, Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) could come together in one place. Thapa's statement suggests that considering the current adverse political situation, such an option might be appropriate, and they have initiated discussions for that purpose. However, Thapa's argument of caution remains valid, as the convergence of two major political parties could pose a risk to democracy.
During this episode of "Fireside" on Kantipur Television, Thapa stressed the need to investigate not only Deputy Prime Minister Ravi Lamichhane but also officials from various government bodies including the Cooperative Department and the Company Registrar's Office, among others. Thapa emphasized that scrutiny should not be limited to just Lamichhane due to the matter involving billions of rupees of cooperative savers.
The program also discussed the unstable state of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda). Thapa also brought up topics including his preparations for the upcoming national convention for the position of Party President, and subsequently being a candidate for the position of Prime Minister. He also talked about how the issues against federalism and Hindu state and secularism have been raised in his party.
