Washington Island, WI. I see it’s been mentioned in a different video
ОтветитьI thought they were famous for road apples
ОтветитьSo, could Belle Isle be "South Detroit"?
ОтветитьChincoteague wildlife refuge is also known for practically mutant mosquitos!!
ОтветитьPut-in-Bay is so fun to visit!!
ОтветитьMackinac is so nice. Everyone in the US has to experience a Summer day on Mackinac at least once
ОтветитьTo touch on the airport on French Island, that part of mn and wi is called "bluff country." The flat island is the only feasible location for an airport because of all the hills and bluffs in the area.
ОтветитьSadly Indycar stopped racing at belle isle in favor of a downtown Detroit street circuit
ОтветитьI'm not much of a traveler, so I was quite surprised that I've visited six of the thirteen islands featured here. Of course, it doesn't hurt to live in Michigan with all that surrounding water.
ОтветитьWhere can I get that shirt
ОтветитьAs soon as you say the anti vax you lost me.
ОтветитьI visited Put in bay and they had cars there
ОтветитьLove seeing City Island and Harrisburg on here! Rip to the Harrisburg City Islanders you are missed😭
ОтветитьI think myth busters did some shows on the island in San Francisco.
ОтветитьMackinac peaches.....
Ответитьi need fudge fest in my future
ОтветитьYou know Drummond Island is a true gem and geological interesting. With fossil ledges, and marble head. With a nice resort at good rates, nice off road park, golf, restaurants with gluten free options. The store on the island even sells diapers and many places are pet friendly.
ОтветитьIve spent time on Vashon for work. The people there are really interesting. Theres a lot of weird folk over there that are super wary of outsiders but it's not like, dangerous to visit or anything. The anti vax sentiment comes across pretty clear when you visit though. They just kinda stare a lot. As a home inspector. The natural beauty of the island is amazing, but there isn't a whole lot out there to go see besides some state land and beaches, so I don't make my way over there often. It's a beautiful little island but some of the people kinda turn me off of going there very much
ОтветитьI can’t believe that you said California and common sense in the same video.
Ответитьi am very simple, i see a pic of treasure island, i click thumbnail
ОтветитьI'll never wander again. Fuck Charles, hail the king!
ОтветитьBack in the 90s I lived on Treasure Island, it was an active military base at the time. We had two shops, a theater, and an elementary school. Once I graduated 5th grade I had to take the bus and cross Bay Bridge into SF and attend a middle school there called Potrero Hill.
Living on the Island wasn't bad, there were plenty of playgrounds to meet my friends at and it's where I started my babysitting gig, lol.
People say "keep Vashon weird" and they mean it.
It's even more weird up in the Salish Sea.
A large part of the Mississippi flow has diverted to the Atchafallia River. Obviously that forms an island in the triangle between the rivers. Wondering how that compares to the other large islands
ОтветитьMy wife's grandparents live a few miles south of French Island. I would pack up and move there tomorrow if I could.
ОтветитьI've also been to Chouteau island several times, the old route 66 Bridge is still up there, it's closed to vehicle traffic but you can walk or bike across it and see the arch and St. Louis skyline in the distance
ОтветитьI went to south bass island on a family vacation years ago, it was pretty cool. Just a small tourist town with a bunch of souvenir shops and restaurants
ОтветитьKyle, Put-in-Bay! I was there decades ago when those of in a conference on the mainland went over for the day.
You're so amazingly good at this, it's fun to catch you on a rare occasion: Chincoteague = SHINK-uh-teag. 😃
fellow geography nerd named kyle here. can you do part 2 and include block island, RI and Appledore island, ME
ОтветитьYou can bring your car to put-n-bay
ОтветитьGreat shirt very kyle
ОтветитьA couple corrections on Belle Isle, The island has been linked to Detroit via three bridges since 1889. The first bridge was a steel truss bridge which burned down in 1915. The second was a temporary bridge which seeved from 1916 - 1923 and the final bridge is the present day MacArthur bridge completed in 1923. The Detroit Grand Prix did run for several years on Belle Isle but starting in 2023 the reace was moved back to downtown Detroit where it originally started.
ОтветитьGreat video as always and LOVE the shirt Kyle!
ОтветитьI was born and raised in the bay and I’ve never heard of Yerba Buena. The whole thing has always been called Treasure Island.
ОтветитьBelle Island in Va is another good one. Uninhabited but once site of Civil War prison and regrettably slave trade I believe.
ОтветитьJust so you know, marshes are wetlands dominated by herbaceous vegetation and swamps are wetlands dominated by woody vegetation.
ОтветитьWe had thanksgiving one year at my dads old ex girlfriend’s aunt’s house on vashon island and it was actually really nice. I was like 13 so dont remember too much 😂
ОтветитьI lived in Kodiak for a couple of years as a boy, and the first winter we received no snow whatsoever, however the 2nd winter it snowed, boy it snowed.
ОтветитьVashon is where Netflix is from isn't it?
ОтветитьI haven’t watched your first video so I don’t know if you covered it, BUT… Mohegan Island in Maine is pretty interesting since it’s tiny, but it’s also famous because it’s the setting of a famous painting by Andrew Wyeth. I worked there for a summer for one of my first ever jobs when I graduated High School. One day I nearly bumped into Jackie Onassis leaving one of the few businesses on the island that are open for Tourists. Sad to say she seemed “put out” and didn’t smile or say “no problem” when I apologized.
ОтветитьI love South Bass Island/Put In Bay... but it 100% has cars on it. Golf carts are just main mode of transit. Also there is some cool caves on it.
ОтветитьA Geography King video on islands?
👍 Liking before watching!
I was present at Naval Station Treasure Island's decommissioning ceremony in 1996. I was an Army reservist and our unit met at the Oakland Army Base, just at the eastern terminus of the Bay Bridge. Bigwigs wanted some background filler for the ceremony, and I guess they figured random Army medical reservists were close enough to Navy that nobody would notice.
ОтветитьPuerto Rico is larger than Hawaii.
ОтветитьThat neat green copper top "river castle" (Mississippi River by chain of rocks) is an old pumping station. I drive past it into work.
ОтветитьHaven't seen it in any of your lists, but May's Island in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is a pretty interesting one, hope to see it on a future installment!
ОтветитьI've been to 4 of these! And I have plans to go to Pea Patch Island next month
Ответить
