Bolt Action Paint Scheme Vlog - Darksun 30

So, with the advent of 2nd edition i've finally started painting and assembling my Bolt Action stuff - shout of to Matt and Chris who gave me the free stuff :)

Ive decided to go for Brits, and paint them as the Desert Rats. Ive always loved the African Theatre in particular, it just captured my imagination as i know it was an source of hope for our country that showed the 3rd Reich wasn't invincible,. Plus, my great Uncle Walter was a Desert Rat! He was a Paratrooper Medic who fought in Africa and in Operation Market Garden. He was captured at Arnhem because as a medic he refused to leave the wounded in the field hospital.

Thankfully he survived his time in a POW camp and lived until a few years ago, but his capture did leave marks on my family in a couple of ways. They werent sure he was alive and it meant my grandad (his younger brother) had to identify his younger sister's body after an air raid, as he was the oldest male family member available. It also meant that our American relatives (his cousins i think) who we lost contact with during the war thought he was dead, and it wasn't until the early 2000s when my mum was researching our family tree that they were able to talk to him again!

So yeah, as meaningless as it is - I pick Brits for my Great Uncle Walter. Because what he did meant something to me.
