I love both prog and metal (mainly death/black/doom/thrash) but I just can't do this band. Labrie just immediately turns me off and the writing doesn't move me.

This is why learning singing is important, rock singers always rely only on height of notes to sound impressive because they don't have technic. And they never think what will happen 20 years later.
You can do so much more than singing super high to be a good vocalist.
