This video was not as good as others you do Luke. First, using the Lord’s name in vain is totally uncalled for… not cool! Second, in some tests you compared the M2 to the i9 core, not a true “apples to apples” comparison. Third, best thing you pointed out was the fan noise of the M2 and the inconsistent claims of Apple versus real world testing. Finally, one would think that Apple would actually do some “real world” testing of their products before they hit the market, but then, Apple doesn’t really live in the real world… they live in the realm of advertising hype to increase sales!

So, what should i buy ? Macbook pro M1 13inch or M2 13inch ?

The reason why divinci had more drastic results is because it’s the only 1 of the big 3 that is GPU based. The other 2 are CPU based. The M2 biggest tweak is I believe is graphics. Don’t quote me on the last statement lol.

Geekbench is a more accurate representation of the actual CPU gains on the M2 than any other benchmark that you showcased. SPEC2017 also showcases an average score increase of 18% when taking the average of SPECint and SPECfp, and considering these are both benchmarks that are not really 'one single benchmark' (accomodating many many other subtests) and they're properly optimized for ASi, I would be more inclined to believe that the overall CPU performance gain is 18% rather than 9-15% (in multicore performance) (the speed difference you experience between M1 and M2 wouldn't be much far apart if it was overall 11% faster or 18% faster either way, but we have to talk in exact figures if we're claiming to be doing objective benchmarks.

I think similar or better battery life in high intensive GPU tasks despite the GPU drawing more power is due to the new LPDDR5 memory drawing less power than the prev. LPDDR4X. So Apple balanced it out (prefered higher GPU performance over further battery life gains).

Sir i gor 1939 in my i5 12600k in geekbench 5 single core and 1917 in cinebench r23 single core. I9 12900k got 2148 single core in cinebench r23. 13 gen is also coming in October 2022 and rtx 4000 cards also.

Feel strange, the m1max cost 3299£ and m2 1500£ got faster processor, what I paid for double of price?? who cares for better speakers and silent fan, I need performance for my work :)

Well, obviously this is not the same if u want to game with this and it definitely fails over a PC or Laptop with a Ryzen 9 and Intel 12th Gen so, unless u wouldn't want to do any games which is hard for me cause i'm paying above 2k for a laptop and it's not a cheap 500 bucks one, then, i rather go to other options

I got my M1 MBP 13 on a sale for 1100€ a few months ago and the M2 version is way more expensive in Spain, 1600€. So I believe I got my value's worth.

The M1 MBP is great for me but it has its limitations. I'll be targeting an M2 Pro-M2 Max machine in the future.

Seems to me there's not a huge reason to upgrade from M1 to M2. It's definitely better but not worth it unless you can sell your M1 machine and only spend a $3-400 to upgrade. My M1 MacBook Air is fantastic, especially with the thermal pad mod, it matches the performance of the M1 MBP13. I foresee keeping this until M3 or maybe even M4 is released.

This bodes well for the forthcoming MacBook Air laptops, where the extra graphics and encoders while retaining super low power consumption would truly pay off. Those could be the potential iPad Pro killer for me.

I suspect that you have the 256GB SSD option which is far slower than the 256GB M1. So your video editing test may have been hampered by the M2 (256GB SSD) slower SSD, most likely due to using a single chip which is half the bus width of the M1 MBP 13.

Your battery test is not accurate! If is drawing more power running more things such as the fans the Battery will drain faster, Period, you need to run the test in a normal day use!

It’s not worth the upgrade unless this is your first buy
