Oxygen dissolved i water is released when boiling the water. At around 95 degree Celsius the water molecules are moving so fast that virtually all oxygen is released.
Do the environment a favor and save the water for next boil!

I have tried pouring the water over the tea bag but I feel like the tea is always bitter when I do

If it's cheaper tea then don't squeeze the teabag or dunk it around too much, because yes it will be stronger but in a bitter gross way, not the nice astringent way.

In fact I never ever squeeze the tea bag anymore. 9/10 it ruins it completely and I enjoy drinking it plain or just wish splenda sometimes - most times. I think the Chinese way of brewing black tea is better, way less brewing time (like 2 mins tops) but more tea.

The strongest tea has yet to be squeezed from the bag... aaargh! I like the covering cup idea but more dunks at the end and a proper squeeze of the tea bag, preferable sandwiched between 2 spoons ;)

I guess I understand my problem: tea is for tiny tiny people. I would finish that cup in a sip and still be thirsty!

The squeeze part seems controversial. I just watched another video on this which said never ever squeeze the tea bag.

My tea keeps coming out bitter. Next time, I will use fresh water instead of water sitting in the kettle for days.

Coming from the Balkans I would only drink tea for medicinal purpose, as is the custom in those parts. Very few people there drink it as a daily 'beverage' - coffee wins that battle.
Recently I started drinking tea for health reasons, in the late evening, sometimes with or after smoking a joint (fully legal here in Canada).
I bought a better quality tea and let it steep. Quality tea is so much better - I had no idea how much better it was. I guess there's a reason for the price difference :)

Now I'm addicted to it! I love the aroma emanating from the unsealed bags and since weed makes everything enjoyable to a higher degree the whole experience has been quite pleasing so far! I typically use 1 bag of chamomile and 1 bag of ginger/turmeric blend. Add a little wildflower organic honey and I'm in heaven. It's also helping health-wise.

I will look for Ahmad brand. Someone at work brought a full box - I'll 'steal' couple of bags to try. Thanks for the video - it confirmed my method was correct :)
