R7 7800X3D vs R9 7900X vs i7-13700K - How Much Performance Difference?

It's probably just me but the 7800 X3D doesn't make much sense. However I don't know what the current state of game engines is for multi-core use and where the engines are going. I say that because if you are going to trade off a lot of performance from work applications and put that towards gaming, I think you should be seeing better numbers than what is seen here. In other words depending on the game engine utilizing the cores it has, a smaller core count and much cheaper CPU would seem to be a much more cost effective solution if all you care about is gaming.

It also looked like the 7800 X3D was simply throttled on work loads if the power consumption is any clue. Overall I'd much rather have a excellent general purpose CPU than a gaming centric CPU. But that is just me.

Intel fans are going to cry about using slow ram instead of 7200!

If all three of these CPUs bottleneck an RTX 3080 12GB, and I know I won't be getting a new GPU that is even close to the 3080's level of performance, then I don't have a need for any of these CPUs either. I like my old DX9 games and I like AMD hardware. This is not a criticism. Just a personal observation.

Cache is king when it comes to gaming.

This thing is a monster. I absolutely love my 7800x3d. It’s actually a huge difference between 7700x and 7800x3d.

Sure, you're using 4090 for 1080p and 1440p😂😂 (for those who cheers about "monster 7800x3d hahah). With any other gpu the difference would be negligible. So 13700k is a much better choice as you could do any render programs x2 times faster. So overall performance 13700k wins by miles. (Don't go down the comments, there are idiots)

It’s funny how at first the 7800x3d looks like the clear loser the benchmarks but then as soon as it gets to the games it’s like holy crap this thing blazing through everything on the gaming side

the 7900x can be regularly had for under 400 dollars now and as low as 360usd on prime day. It might be better value these days but not sure.

7900x looks better and betternif youre a 1440p gamer that like to edit here and there especially with prices well under 400 bucks

Definitely a gaming CPU, and considering the power draw and temps it works at, it's not too shabby at production, too.
