What mic do you use?

Why do you have the mic etc going across your face and head? It looks silly(to me).. It's like you are buried and struggling to look out through wires. Do you do it on purpose for an effect? I don't like it, but you explain things very well so your videos are excellent. Just my opinion. Keep them coming.
