Amazing work dude!! I find this video very relevant to compare CPU bottleneck / driver overhead between RX 480 and GTX 1060. I have an i5-4460 and I was planning to get an RX480 but was kinda skeptical because of AMD driver overhead impact on my CPU, so I went with the GTX 1060 2-3 days ago. I am glad I made the right decision; your video confirms my belief. Thanks a bunch, man!

Pls do consider it I've been shouting in your channel a long time because from where i come from i7 is way too costly and all my friends including me do consider i5 6600k but none have got it keeping ZEN in mind. .. +Hardware Unboxed do consider it pls

Conclusion: i`m just fine with my 2 years old stock clocked FX-8320 even once i upgrade to RX 480 in the autumn. Modern games are nicely optimized and will get even better once DX12 and Vulkan completely take over. But i guess there are still some Intel boys who think i should`ve bought i3-4130 or whichever Intel cpu was hanging at that price point back then.

Great video Matt, as always. Furthermore, let me tell you that you have done and you do an amazing job. The information that you give in relation with the time your videos last is amazing. The whole design of all your job (channel, benchmarks, videos, etc) is super clean and very informative at the same time. I came to tell something completely different but I needed to tell you that. So, what I wanted to tell is that: Don't forget about MMORPG's, those are the ones where AMD really struggle. Almost every MMORPG I have played quite a few... AMD has serious problems. Sometimes for performance per core, sometimes for lack of drivers...but it is almost always like that.

Hopefully Zen, with its best performance per core, will improve AMD reputation in this area.

This is a suprise. The fact that you can actually compare the performance of the FX8350 and the i7 6700k is shocking. Looks like people who have the FX 8350 will be able to have good performance for another 4 years which is insane. AMD cpu's are under rated AF.

So if you like to game at 1080p it's worth paying the extra £50 for the gtx 1060 over the rx 480 since it performs like a 1080 at just over 1/3 the price and outperforms it @ 1080p on most dx11 titles. If you game at 1440p and above then go for the RX 480 for price/performance.

There are many idiot nvidia and Intel psycho people. We have an fx8320 from 2012.we will buy only a Vega/gtx1070 level and we will play at 1440p in 2017/2018 dx12/vulkan api.Don't you get it ?are so idiots?90% off people trolling are psycho people obsessed probably update every 1 year.Get a life.

For 60hz monitors, the FX-8320/FX-8350's are just fine and dandy. I have yet to run into any issues, however I'm slightly glad that I went with 1060 as the cpu overhead in the drivers are lower than AMDs as clearly shown in this video as well. My hunch was correct. Plus the 1060 was actually cheaper as well so that's a plus :p

Would The 4670k bottleneck The 1060 as much as the fx 8350 did?

It's very interesting to see this comparison, it goes to show that depending on the game you still can game perfectly fine with and old cpu, but i don't believe there is any reason to buy one new, it's old technology by any means.

awesome video. But can someone explain why the 8350 closes in on the 6700k when playing at 1440p?

I have an 8350 and will be getting a 1060. Because I play on 2560x1080 does that mean it would perform closer to a 6700k or i5 at the same res because the res is higher than 1920x1080

so which one better gpu (RX 480, GTX 1060) for photoshop, Lightrrom...and some more pc game..

Makes me wonder why people even bother overclocking FX processors. The 6300 and 8300 CPUs offer solid gaming performance out of the box, and the extra frames you get from OCing is barely noticeable. The added stress, noise, and heat output doesn't seem worth it at all.

If you were running a FX8350 @ 4.7Ghz and the cards were the same price, which one would you buy ? Both non-reference cards with better cooling. The AMD card had an 8 pin and the Nvidia with a 6 pin power. ??????????

Gotta hand it to you. This is some of the best test and benchmark results I have seen. You have done a great job with this. Thanks for taking the time with these benchmarks, they have been very very helpful. I have to say that amd fx 8350 has aged very well and at 1440p combined with any good gpu (amd fx 8350 would bottleneck the nvidia 1080 for sure), it seems to perform quite well compared to intel i7 6700k given the price difference between the two platforms (cpu + motherboard cost). I own an amd fx 8320e (overclocked to 4.0) and just ordered me a msi rx 480 after going through these benchmarks and am already feeling very happy about it.

ill go with a gtx 1060 for my fx 8320e at 4.5 ghz my current gpu sapphire nitro run gta v at high settings aax4 at 35-45 fps but i want to go with nvidia clearly i l9ve amd and intel and amd gpu and nvidia gpu but nvidia its doing great at dx12 dammn friend can you benchmark a rx 580 with both cpus please bro

I am one of the victims who replaced my beloved fx 8350 for an i7 7700k. Ok 7700k is better but so much money does not worth this upgrade. I learned from my mistake.....

I want to keep my fx 8350 and upgrade my gpu,is therefore gtx 1060 6gb a better option than rx 580?
