Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland all have well trained, equipped Military and Paramilitary Defense Forces that will deal with any Russian and Belarus attacks.

You can only be wiped out from the homeland

So on one hand russia is embarrassing itself on the battlefield with ukrain and is barely scraping by, but on the other hand russia is a force we need to be scared and afraid of? Pick a narrative and stick to it.

Who exactly controls Russian egress back and forth along this Suwalki Gap between Kaliningrad & Belarus ? It seems there is a highway the full length between Belarus & Kaliningrad. Normally, "right of way" landowners (in this case it appears Lithuania & Poland) would control Russian access, legally. So it appears it is Russia who should be concerned about being "cut off."

Weakness?? It's so small that they couldn't hardly stop NATO from getting through. People play this up too much. Poland would roll right through.

The way Russia is struggling in Ukraine I find it highly unlikely that they could just walk in and take the gap. If they did try and take the Suwalki gap it would be a direct attack on a NATO member.

Actually this is a fools plan for Russia. They must move west while their flanks are fully exposed. Because we can attack from the north and south is actually far better for us then a consolidated blocking for. As for Russia wanting to take Ukraine that is your assumption. Remember there is more than one way to skin a cat.

It's not a gap, it's a huge swath of fields like the entire surrounding countryside. I have been there. There is no particular geographic weakness. It just looks that way on political maps.

When this war ends we (the west) cannot make the same mistake we made after the Soviet Union. We cannot lift them back up. They are untrustworthy and Ukraine is one of many examples. This time we must do everything to make their country collapse and not help them rebuild

NATO would destroy any Russian land or air force. The seaport would simply be destoryed.

Königsberg (aka Kaliningrad) is already encicled by NATO.
If Russians would be so idiotic to try to cut through the gap they would only reenforce failiure.
But with the current state of the Russian military they would not even have a chance to get 2 miles into the gap
Btw Polish and Lithuanian farmers would sit on their tractors on both sides and wait patiently to tow Russian tanks away 😂😂😂😂

The problem in Nato is that it's to large with way to much autonomy and difference in politics. Hells there is way to much prestige mongering and diplomacy involved in a simple thing like a joint exercise to the point that no one wants to go all out and risk failure and embarrassment. Especially when there are members that are in openly hostile towards each other or have interests unaligned with NATO.

It really depends on speed, I feel like keeping a sizeable force, elite force and keep them battle ready is vital. Retaking is a terrible idea, even with air superiority! Way too many lives would be wasted.

Kaliningrad is gone for Russia if they touch the corridor. Also if they do a wrong move, sea access for European-part of Russia is gone. Turkey would close the Bosporus, same in northern Europe.
