He is the best player of his generation, in fact there hasn’t been a better ALL ROUND player !!!!!! Even messi, Ronaldinho couldn’t and didn’t tackle or pass like Gerrard…FACT!!! He also scored unbelievable goals easily equally to messi or Ronaldinho.. even maradonna, pele etc.. they were the best except they didn’t pass or tackle or score better than Gerrard..overall he has no equal. The only player I can remember similar was Johann Cruyff.. but even he didn’t score as many goals like Gerrard .

As a Liverpool fan and therefore huge admirer of the man, seriously though how could you compare him to Zidane? It's a bit mad. I'm sure he himself would agree with me.

tracked back like a thorobred racehorse, tackled like a bear and rarely mistimed. He was an 8 that was more superior than every other 6 who opposed him. Basically was superior in two roles at once and even scored 10+ goals per season. incredible personal contribution.

To judge a player you have to ignore club rivalry and be totally honest based on what we all see as we all watch the same game. Gerrard carried a team for years that wasn't great most of the times. Liverpool side that won the title in recent years would have done so with ease with Gerrard. I mean come on what Henderson does is nothing. I don't care what anyone says he runs 100 miles a game but does nothing to influence a game.

I think what made Gerard stand out for me was that he could do all of the midfield things well. It could be argued that other players could do some things better eg. Maybe Scholes was a better passer, or something like that.
But Gerard did it ALL, and did it all at a top level.
Same argument could be made when people say maybe KDB has surpassed him as the PL's best ever midfielder. I would say no, because even though KDB has an amazing eye for a pass and is an excellent all round midfielder, Gerard has superior tackling and shooting, and Stevie played in a team that didn't take up the slack when he had an off day.

Apart from the tough tackling I really do think his play style is a bit similar to Kevin De Bruyne

The closest any player has ever been to Zidane, who for me is the greatest MF player ever but even this is tight as Gerrard was much better defending only Zidane's trickery keeps him ahead by a whisker. Total work horse was Stevie G.

Scolesy said himself "Gerrard could do what I did at Man U, but I could not do what he did at Liverpool" he is basically acknowledging Gerrard's superiority. Lampard was another elite but again he played with the star studded Chelsea team.. but again Gerrard was Boss. Becks v Gerrard and again it's Gerrard.. nobody can compete with Becks marketability but playing wise Gerrard, probably why Becks voice was like a bitches 😂

I would like people to compare actual career statistics between Gerrard and Lampard. You will find they are very similar across defensive metrics (tackling etc), with Lampard of course carrying the trophy burden. The only difference between them is that to the English, one was considered the poster-boy midfielder of English football for non- footballing reasons, and shoulld have been dropped from the English team long ago when it was realised that theyboth offerredthe same thing.

When comparing prem best midfielders gerrard must be everyones top 5. If de bruyne was half as food as gerrard at 23 chelsea woupd never have let him go 😅 yedls hes come on across the past 6 years but gerrard is still the more complete midfielder
