I will say, this wasn’t optimized for most grenade regen. But glad starfire is still getting love!

Stop playing destiny shortly before Lightfall dropped and came back recently. was good to see my starfire build was still strong. I build around always having my grenade up. You can do so much with it. Cure yourself. Cure on kills. Blow shit up.

You could pair it with Buried Bloodline for Devour on demand, which would give a ton of grenade energy back and heals!

This is my new go to Solar build. I don't like Sunbracers because I don't like the snap melee, and whenever I try to get Sunbracers going, there's never enough enemies to make it worthwhile.

I watched this build vid, blew the dust off my Starfire Protocol -- and wham! A solar warlock build that delivers damage and survivability 👍👍

I use Skyburner's Oath in hipfire mode -- and it's scorch city with this build -- I love it!

I had no idea healing rift procs benevolence. Might dust it off yet again.

Have you considered using a weapon with heal clip to keep benevolence proced as often as possible?

Been saying this since the nerf. Are there more optimal builds for boss dps? Certainly, not as braindead easy though.

I’ve been using Starfire even through its nerf and I have a build using the tesselation along with it, if you get a kill while in an empowering rift with the alternate fusion mode you can get your whole nade back, while doing it all over again. This is super fun and honestly really nice and powerful, if you want you can pair it with some demolitionist weapons in the kinetic slot such as the Root of nightmares auto rifle. And if your rift energy low just get a nade kill and do the turret mode all over again. More often than not my fusion is empty before I have thrown all possible names. Great video tho.

Personally, I'd go for ember of torches over singeing; the extra class ability energy's nice, but letting your melee activate benevolence helps with uptime on top of purely having access to radiant in a pinch

Idk bro I tried to make this function after the nerfs but in a team setting boots of the assembler just function better for this and if your solo you might as well run varitys. Starfire just can't keep up and it's definitely not top 5 for warlocks when we have all these other options you want more grenades run varitys or nezerecs or sunbracers even osmiomancys, you want support run boots of the assembler or cenotaph, super? Battle mantle phoenix, DPS apotheosis or rain of fire.

"Most people think Starfire protocol is dead" - My guy, you are probably the only person who thinks this, it is slightly less popular than Phoenix but it is definitely not dead, I've been in more LFG's groups that run Starfire than anything else.

Starfire may not be the best anymore but it feels so pointless using a master of none type build, apotheosis is best boss dps, sunbracers are best add clear/nuetral. Starfire isn’t a comfortable middle ground, it’s slightly lower, and still forces you to use some weapons to get max effectiveness like dragon’s breath

I can’t recommend this chest piece anymore, there’s just too many better options out there after this got nerfed. You’re better off using literally anything else nowadays, id even say just run Verity’s with polaris and you’re better off.

I was running starfire when farming lake of shadows gm for the new gl. I ran ashes, searing+mercy and resolve. The extra survivability from mercy let me run empowering rifts which do actually give a lot of grenade energy, just from final blows instead of weapon damage now.

Wait, Ember of Resolve applies to any grenade in the solar subclass? Not the healing grenade obviously. I thought it specifically applied to the, uh, Solar Grenade only because it says, 'solar grenade'. Is this another example of poor Bungie descriptions?

Its hilarious to me that the optimal way to play starfire now isnt even using it the way they describe it. Using a healing rift and benevolence instead of empowering. Regardless of benevolence i still believe starfire is not worth running ever given the other options. I loved this exotic too and tried to make it work anyway imaginable. Not worth it

If you're playing solo, just use the ember of singing.

Sometimes you just need that 1 extra grenade to accel in content
