Been wearing jeans or khaki’s from Walmart for 6 years. Had a few crashes. Perfectly fine. I always wear good riding jacket. But I also don’t ride crazy and it’s rare I go on the interstate bc the hwy here’s are deadly conditions. so that could be why too

I have two pairs of trousers Kevlar lined, one with knee and hip pads, one without. I chose them according to the distance and speed of the journey.

I lift weights, so most pants cannot fit my legs. I'm supposed to hunt for special motorcycle jeans to fit my legs?

I've never thought riders look goofy in riding gear. Riding gear tends to catch attention because it's different. But I've always envied people dressed for riding as a nonrider (for now.)

Textile pants are great for commuting, because you can get overpants that fit over shorts or regular pants. When you get to your destination, you can take them off and stow them in a pannier.

You skipped level 0: bare skin in shorts or less.

I was told that waxed materials slide more easily because the wax melts with the friction. Is this true? I have a jacket made of this, never come off in motion so I can't tell.

Riding a cruiser I feel pretty safe with a pair of motorcycle jeans. If I somehow get into a slide, I'm not going very far, and It has armor at the knees and hips. I have no interest in leather and the only time I look into a textile alternative is when the temperature drops, and I wish for something warmer.

Leathers, road or track. Back in the 90s everyone wore 1-piece race suits down to the pub, now its jeans and tshirts. I could care less what the current fashion is, the only reason I still have fully functional legs is by wearing leathers with armour so that works for me

In the Raleigh NC area, there are seversl bike shope including a large HD dealer and a Cyclegear store. In 2 years I have yet a decent pant or boots ti ride my bike. I found a reinforced biker jeans with knee pads but it only fits btetween 60 and 70 degrees anfpd the knee pads are amazingly painful. There is nothing in stock in NC, it sucks and I haveno intentions if buying clothes online. Done it, been there, not working. Still looking for decent boots and pants...

Firstly, wanna say, I learnt that jeans are totally useless the hard way, hahaha, after that I went and got a RIDING jeans and man was it so worth it. Sadly not many that are super affordable, most will leave your wallet a lil empty for a while.

talking about style... leather gear with boots is the most ridicolous thing lol, and that squeky noise that the suit makes when they are walking is just so clownish :D I'd choose textile anytime over leather...

Just land on your head, that way you don't ruin your nice jeans.

What about a good (sugestions??) paire of protection shorts+knee pads under normal pants?? Should be well protected (impact and slide) ?

I'd like to wear moto pants (I only have cold weather slip overs), but I ride everyday, it's going to be a lot of pants..

Great video. I'd have liked chaps added as well. Not a big fan of the style but it's an option to consider.

For example I ride a bagger and I commute on it rain or shine. It's only a 20-25 minute commute and I don't have a good place to change in and out of riding pants so chaps seem like a good option to throw over my work pants.

I also moto camp and sometimes want to pull off and hike a trail. Chaps can be put on and off over light weight pants. The ones I got have a pocket for knee protection minimal slide or impact protection on the hips. Obviously no ass protection. They still seem like a viable option and better than just wearing regular pants for short or long rides.

Super useful as always but I'm not so sure about the 1-2-3 ranking for the three kinds. There are AAA abrasion resistance rated jeans now which exceeds textile and is in the same league with leather.

In terms of my fashion and style, I dress utilitarian. I am attracted to things which have utility, and so are the people I surround myself with, which is why we hate the look of jeans and denim. Any riding pants with a couple dozen pockets, decent cold and hot weather versatility, and of course good protection against the road! That is something which is attractive to the people around me.

What if you are riding a can am trike where there is no skidding?

I got run off the road by a car, while riding a bicycle down a very steep hill with shitty road conditions. I went down at about 15mph, and the instant I hit pavement, my (very thick and sturdy, not fashion grade) jeans got split open at the knee, and my knee got split open at the same time. I was wearing boots, and the pockets got ripped off saving my literal ass ... but that's 15mph. On a bicycle. 10/10 recommend dressing for the slide, not the ride.
