EASIEST Way to Grow Mushrooms - Broke Boi Tek

If I have a tall trivet (it sits about 4 inches off the bottom) and a large pot (20 quart) should I just use a couple of inches of water, or should I still fill it to the bottom of the trivet?

Is it possible to cross this tek with the Uncle Bens tek?

I'd prefer not to do it in the Bens bags as the bags sold in our country do not have the clear bottom - My question is if I boil and Sterilize the jars as shown above would moving UBs rice into the jars in my still box be viable enough to prevent contaminants? And could I inoculate and transfer rice at the same time?

philly ill doubt youll see this but for the steam sterilization can i just pressure cook it at 15 psi for 90 minutes or would that cook the rice too much. I have brown rice but just dislike the idea of soaking and simmering

Maybe dumb question. You use a spoon to move the rice into the jar. Isn't it a possible source for contamination if you don't sterilize it first?

Can I flame sterilize inside a true SAB and use bleach solution instead of ethanol so I don't start a fire? My SAB is a plastic one with arm sleeves so passing things into the box isn't easy. I have to have everything in the box prior to working.

Can using a new sterile syringe tip substitute flame sterilizing in between inoculating jars? The SAB I have would make it a pain in the butt to remove and reenter with syringe to flame sterilize.

Still air box always seemed a bit much to me. Just turn off the HVAC system and spray some 7th Generation brand disinfectant spray (basically Lysol.) The 7th G version is mostly natural other than some sodium laurel sulfate (basically soap) so it's more or less safe to breathe in small amounts. You can spray immediately before each individual inoculation to knock down any mold spores. It's not so good at killing bacterial contamination or probably yeast, but then again nothing but a pressure cooker really is.

Confused, cook rice let cool then cook in jar hour n half? It don't take that long for rice to pop, confused

So at the end when inoculating the sterile jars you just leave the jars in a dark room ? Or do they need light also what temp / humidity should the room they inoculate in be at

I have a question: after inoculation do you close the lid tightly or do you keep it loose? if the latter, how does that keep out bacteria? if tight, how do you allow for gas exchange?

Would I have to sterilize the jars before I put the rice in it to measure since the jars are clean but smell?

Hello, I have two questions: I am thinking about using a substrate of: Mix of seeds (bird food), brown rice flour, flaxseed flour, vermiculite, glucose. Do the ready-made jars have an air filter? When the jars are colonized, can I remove and transfer the substrate to a grow box. That is, can I hurt the mycelium(damage) Thanks in advance

Once innoculated i thought the bottles are kept inside the still air box only.. But you kept it outside. Isn't there a risk of infection?

First time my cat did this experiment, he used PF Tek.
He is still a fan of that Tek, but this is so much easier and eliminates so many steps and chances for things to go wrong.
