Locked Xeons are impossible to tweak! No matter what kind of Motherboard you have for test!
ОтветитьI saw the thumbnail and i was like i already knew what you tried and i was right
ОтветитьYou have a jewel and you spitting on it. Shame on you. Do your research before you start blaming on hardware you do not know how to use properly.
ОтветитьNowadays, computers are probably ONLY used for gaming. Everyone purchases them ONLY for gaming. And every Tom, Dick and Harry has one agenda, Gaming.
This has become so monotonous and everyone, repeat everyone is jumping on the same bandwagon.
Timmy is a good cameraman but from in front of a camera.
Ответитьdude you ca oc this stuff!
you need the bclk multi, set it to 1,25x
or 125mhz than you have higher clocks.
for the ram, you must read instructions or flash the bios.
i have this stuff @home ✌🏻
Just use single socket board from Chinese manufacturers..
Ответитьif i have my hand on one them board i would have throw on 1054 intel xeon CPU on it and never have issues with it and have used dual gpu like 560 or 590 something it have dual *gpu block on" i never try anything with singer gpu
ОтветитьI wanted one so bad when thay came out
ОтветитьI was looking at the dual socket ones on aliexpress actually. Glad you sent out this video.
ОтветитьOh man.. i got a sr-2 classified on ebay untested for 100$ from a pc repair shop in Montreal. They sent it to me and I realized my onhand CPUs wouldn't work.. anyway JUST YESTERDAY I got to test it. it WORKS!!!!
100$ FOR A WORKING Sr-2!!!!!!!
If anyone wants to see i can post PICS on Twitter, @skoopsro
Xeons are pretty awesome CPUs even though they really old school they still hold there own in gaming
Ответить2 seconds in and I'm already annoyed
ОтветитьI used to use a 1680 v2with a asus sabertooth x79 motherboard and I loved that set up. At 4.5 ghz and paired with a 1080 ti it kicked ass. I also just picked up an EVGA SR-2 x58 board the other day for $80 US! I know it's not going to get better performance but I've always wanted to do a build with that motherboard even if it's not going to be my main rig. There is something truly exciting about making old hardware perform beyond its initial expectations.
Ответитьmy case will fit it that board, but.. f-that, sr-2 if i could get one....i would be happy with 96gb ram and a couple [email protected]... hehe using a single [email protected](turbos to around 4.6ghz...) not to bad.... for such an old system... its holding up shockingly well....
and, as soon as i heard x79 i was like "thats not gonna oc, like, at all" sadly.. i was correct..
you could find some unlocked ES(qs/etc) chips that would let you oc, but... thats genuinely a crapshoot having helped friends do such in the past..
You should have a t-shirt with "Linus Tech Ginged" for maximum comedy effect! lol. In fact that should be what this channel is called!
Ответитьi don't i think 1xxx series xeon's have ever worked or marketed for dual cpu configurations but it is a bit confusing because they have the e5 title that always has been a 2xxx series title (old single cpu xeons were e3-1xxx). srx has been a dissapointing board unlike it's older brother sr2. but all and all even with dual xeons overclocked, any modern ryzen or intel cpu will easily be faster overall and maybe cheaper.
Ответить99 series boards were always touchy and not worth all the hassle for the supposed gains to be had according to all the enthooz-E-ass-T clowns. They did a great job with the hype however and forced the jacked up ass price hikes so kudos to them for that fun.
ОтветитьBuying old tech at "cheap price" is always tempting and sounds good in theory but doesnt always work out...at least you tried Timmy. You took a $600 bullet for us. There are much more costly mistakes... like Linus bending a pin on a $1000 CPU.
ОтветитьI like you shirt! hahahaha
ОтветитьLMAO, at that...LTT shirt. Didn't notice it till the end lol
ОтветитьReal laugh is you keep talking about the 1700... when for the cost of that mobo and extra Xeon, you're in 3900X + X570 territory. But yeah, keep comparing to the 1700.
Ответитьnice - buy crap instead of a ryzen 9 system ;)
ОтветитьLol, I’ve got a Chinese X79 dual core E-ATX mobo, a pair of E5-2690’s and a bunch of RAM and I’m struggling to get it to even post. (Gotta figure out the right combo of memory slots to fill) At least I knew what it was capable of before I started - it’s a ‘hobby’ piece at best.
ОтветитьFucking love you timmy joe! but damn dude some hiss on this vid. anyway awesome informative stuff! Hello from New Zealand
ОтветитьBuild a folding@home machine
ОтветитьThat fella had a cool cool pc.
ОтветитьWhere can I find that sweet shirt?
Ответитьlmao, what's up the taped out shirt Timmy Jo??
ОтветитьEVGA SR2 classified+dual xeon X5690 12 cores, 24 threads, overclock up to 4.4Ghz at IIRC 500w(combined) I have them in a supermicro x8dtt-ibf so no overclocking for me, but 3.5Ghz is good for me. And my Dell C2100 gives me 18 RAM slots
ОтветитьI thought there were (SOME) LGA 2011 xeons with overclocking support(unlocked multiplier) but unlike the C602 in the older x5600 series there is no BCLK overclocking
ОтветитьI feel like I should have taken some dramamine before watching this. I enjoyed it but all the camera movement was kinda weird.
ОтветитьI think you can mod mobo bios. You can check tech yes city(Brian overclocked e5-2620v3). Not sure about dual cpu motherboards but there might be a slight chance that you could get that bios fixed
ОтветитьYeah I'm not really sure why you think an old motherboard from that era is going to outdo each current generation hardware. There's a reason why the majority of us either purchase current gen for previous gen if we are on a budget. Anything within the past 3 years performs well enough to suit most
But you are going way too far back! the moment you said Xeon, I was thinking well there's your problem right there
I think you just need some Tech Yes Lovin'!
ОтветитьI'm glad someone got the discontinued 3300x :P
ОтветитьWhat is that, a suped-up Skulltrail board? Ooooh, an EVGA motherboard! I haven't seen one of those in like, a decade! I used to see them all the time when I worked at Tiger Direct (we had all of the EVGA FTW boards) and I also remember XFX motherboards too. Just be careful that they don't have the nVidia nFail northbridge. LOL
ОтветитьIdea: FX 8350 vs Opteron 3365
ОтветитьLeave to Intel to make 2020 that much more enjoyable.🙄
ОтветитьWell, in this case i am quite happy with my w3690 @4.1ghz scoring 929cb in R15 🤪
ОтветитьI'd really like to see Tyler's collection. I bet its epic.
Ответитьok. So 3~ minutes in, mans mad about no overclocking because of his negligence. Love it. What an idiot.
ОтветитьI got 96gb of ecc ram to work in my sr2. It would only post when a rom reset was done on the MB but it fully worked on all cores and all ram. Tested it using a vmware environment with multiple vms maxing out the resources. Lol I ran it that way for a few years because I never shut it off. Now i downgraded the ram to 48gb so it can post normally whenever I power it on. I wonder if it was something in the bios blocking the post.
Ответитьgot my rig with this mobo, evga srx, 2x 4 xeons 4cores each at 3.5 ghz and i em not abble to OC. Only i can do is forcing the blck (its the letters are rights) frol 100 to 103 or 105 that means + 3 or 5 % OC :/ BUT ITS A BEAUTIFUL MOBO !
ОтветитьCan you use any DDR3 kits while using both CPUs or do they need to be ECC RAM? If It works with any DDR3 consumer RAM I will pay you anything you want for the board.
ОтветитьIf you still have this you should put two E5 2667 v2, i got it at 4.1ghz all core and 4.5ghz single core with only BCLK overclocking.
ОтветитьI think this board was built assuming the dual socket xeons can overclock, but intel was just like "NOPE WE'RE LOCKING THEM" and this board is now what it is
Ответить
