domo arigato gozai ma sensei. very educative vid; will have to rewatch a few times over to absorb your valuable comments
ОтветитьGreat video - Glad it started out with a Nakadai film. But what was his rating for the John Wick film?
ОтветитьBrilliant!!
Ответитьi was expecting to see samurai x anime
ОтветитьGranpa is senile. If you want to know how samurai behaved, look at WW2. The entire army was led by samurai families. They butchered civilians, and respected no code of honor, except no retreat no prisonners.
All the so called honor of the samurai he refers to is the imaginary code of western french knights (who were also quite brutal). Most ronin were thieves and killers for hire.
The japanese revisionism and amnesia is fascinating.
He's so kind. A lot of these types of videos, the expert will tell us everything they did wrong, but this man tells us everything they did right.
ОтветитьThe maai ❤❤❤
ОтветитьI am looking for the duel in a do jo between an angered Japanese father and his son that got drunk and may be got a girl pregnant on leave from the Amrican navy . I film I had back in the 70s 80s . I think it mat have been in Hawaii. A good story they had motor bikes. I just cannot find the film
ОтветитьSuiju-sensei's voice is so soothing, he's like the Bob Ross of swords!
If he does another of these reaction videos, my suggestions are:
Shogun Assassin (1980)
The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi (2003)
Sword of the Stranger (2007)
The Yakuza (1974)
The Hunted (1995)
Zipang (1990)
Highlander (1986)
Blind Fury (1989)
Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991)
Seven Samurai (1954)
I want to hear this man say, “This is Katana, she’s got my back. She could cut all you in half with one sword stroke just like mowin the lawn! I would advise not gettin killed by her, her sword traps the souls of its victims..”
ОтветитьYeah right...Japanese were Pirates of East...don't believe they have any honor.
ОтветитьIt must be surprising to know that tom cruise is the only samurai left in japan.
ОтветитьI bet he beats his kids
ОтветитьGreat vid
ОтветитьHarakiri is one of the best, if not THE best samurai movie ever made.
ОтветитьThis mans positivity, calmness and dignity are admirable.
ОтветитьThis is a man whose demeanour effortlessly commands respect.
ОтветитьI absolutely loved how informative this was!
ОтветитьI like how he doesn't attack about the illegitimate portrayal but rather just points out what samurai would do in similar situations in the real world.
"This is a very hard technique to pull off, but can be done. A real samurai might've have done this however if they could do this, it would really show how skilled the samurai was"
Imagine being so confident in your own practice that you do not feel threatened by what happens in movies or anime.
Knife fight, not sword fight!
ОтветитьDont care what anyone says. Hollyweird is just hollyweird. I dont care if there's 100dan black belt on a screen. Its all fantasy.
Real Samurai battles. Lasted a mere 3 to 15 seconds. Theres no ding danging swords clashing at all. They ended it as fast as possible. Plus, the last thing a Samurai wants to worry about. Is, fixing they're blades every 5 mins. We dont have adamantium technology. Etc etc. Again, everything looks cool and pretty on a screen, but its all fantasy... 🎤 Drop
I loved this movie, but it's a white hero riding in.
Tom Cruise is an incredibly dedicated and driven actor.
However it was like the 47 Ronin with a white geezer taking the credit.
he should have commented on how realistic would it be for tom cruise to learn samurai and be the sole survivor of a battle like a year later while all japs that have studied this all their lives died
ОтветитьThis was really cool, this guy had a lot of insight
ОтветитьThe point of samurai champloo is that Jin was the actual samurai and Mugen was some feral child.
Also I love how he just love and respects all of these what a cool dude
Also
"Excelent,this is very good. 4/10"
"The best i've seen in my life. It fired the Samurai spirit indide my heart. 9/10"
As he sat with his palms on his knees, I felt he was going to head the katana at any moment.
ОтветитьHow dare you not include Zatoichi?!! you gotta be kidding !
Ответитьi was here for comment but i ended up watching entire video. he's amazing
ОтветитьMmm. In the traditional Asian sense of proper conduct, his manner of speech is very proper, formal and he does not say anything bad outright. A good representation of the more formal side of general Asian cultural conduct.
I also enjoyed his educational approach. Instead of saying "that is very unrealistic", he frames it instead as "individual X is very skilled to be able to pull that off."
Lol terrible job translating this bro… the line where he says they use wooden swords…. He is saying so much more, im not even close to fluent in Japanese but to me it sounded as though he was explaining the bokken, is a wooden sword, specifically bokuto or wooden katana, and then goes on to explain what materials are being used to make them and their purpose.
ОтветитьThe Japanese language is fascinating to me. I love hearing it.
ОтветитьI like the fact he explains everything, what it's called, how it's done. And explains why he rated the way he did
Ответитьthere were so many better fights from champloo involving jin that could have been used bruh
ОтветитьI just imagined thinking I was a hard a$$ with a 5'2 Japanese woman holding a naginata...
Did it just get cold in here or is it just me?😅😂
In a real conflict, ninja skills are most worthy. As much as samurai swordsmanship is honorable, it is not practical. It is worthy art, more than anything else.
ОтветитьI really love this dude. He's 74 and an embodiment of craft, yet he takes every video seriously and respectfully. He seems quite enlightened and peaceful
Ответитьinvite him again and let him review all the live action kenshin scenes
Ответить"very impresive" 7/10
"i really liked" 6/10
🤡
I think there is a slight culture barrier here, he is being super polite and saying things like "that would be difficult" or "he must be very well trained" but I kind of suspect that that is polite japanese for "Impossible. 0/10"
ОтветитьNote during the scene where Tom Cruise cut his enemy's head clean off with one strike, Sensei said, "it's wonderful." 🔥🔥🔥
Ответитьif it was a samurai master. hed know samurai main weapon was the spear.
ОтветитьTime has moved on...time for maturity of the body mind and soul...time for these individuals to grow up
ОтветитьThe best in the movies was Toshiro Mifune !
Ответить
