Why the obsession with the neo pitch ?? It’s a drone designed to follow you !! What better way to know it’s following you when on a mtb than listening out for it ?? Rather than having to stop and keep checking 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Hate and misleading titles get more views! Decibels measure loudness! No dB numbers mean too subjective.

The NEO is amazing - Love my AIR2S ,but use the neo far more. Sound is not an issue to me.

changing the props on the neo really helps with the sound...same as different props on any drone...master air screws lower the noise..just waiting for master air screw to bring out props for the flip

Yep !!! the Neo is the loudest most annoying DJI Drone currently available! ; I thought my original Mavic Air was noisy until I compared it to the Neo and...........today it sounds quite acceptable !!!!

Cmon guys... I'm a NEO owner and enjoyer, but the little thing screams. Once it gets high maybe the Flip is louder and you can hear, but low altitude there's is a though one for the NEO

Also, the Neo is much quieter and flies more efficiently when you remove the prop cage.

I just took the Flip for a flight for the first time yesterday. After watching so many videos talking about how loud it is, I was surprised. Not that it’s quite but, the NEO is by far the most irritating.

Great little comparison video. The Neo reminds me of the noise a dentist 🦷 drill makes!😬 Definitely more irritating than the flip.

I’m with you, it has some flaws but the flip certainly doesn’t deserve the hate it getting, people were not a fan of the mini 3 pro when they launched and now they love it. As for the sound - I’ve no idea how some people are saying the Neo is quieter than the flip, if you’re sat there hovering at altitude then maybe but when flying around the flip is a fair way quieter

If I had to choose, I'd go with the Flop over the Neo but hard pass on both. Selling my Avata 1 based on the noise because I have the Avata 2 and its so much better. Waiting for the next version of the Neo Pro possibly.

Too me - BOTH drones sound horrible!!! Flip a bit better, but…….. My HoverAir X1 is loud as well - but not as annoying as both DJIs!
The squealing Neo is HORRIBLE!!!

Ken’s hearing is typical of old farts (like me). High frequencies and pitch go first. Since the Neo clearly has a higher (and more annoying) pitch than the Flip, that’s why Ken can’t hear the Neo very well. Hey Ken …. getting old does have more silver linings than just hair color going silver.😂

People may be mistaken by just pointing a sound meter and coming to conclusions. By itself, a sound meter doesn't mean much because we humans don't hear every frequency equally. Perceived loudness is important. That's why pitch is important.

However if I stand against a wall with my neo it’s loud
But when I first flew my neo I expected it to be loud but it wasnt

The Flip is 10 DB louder the the Neo. Buy some quieter props.

OMG! The Neo is nigh unto fingers across chalk boards (for those of you old enough to remember those). Wow! That high pitch is really painful. I imagine it is much worse in person. I wonder of that pitch whine compares to the Hoverairs.

Not a very scientific test. A decibel meter and a more controlled test would be better. However I’m partially deaf with tinnitus so it doesn’t bother me.

How about an update on how your wife’s doing?

It would be interesting to put a dB meter and a spectrum analyser on them under more controlled conditions. Subjectively though the higher pitch and perceptibly louder Neo (shorter rotors moving air faster over a smaller area so quell surprise) is the more annoying. Mind you the Avata is very similar.

Hello from Minnesota. Thanks for the great videos! I’m learning a lot from you. To give some perspective, I’ve been a licensed pilot (ATP) for 30+ years. Just recently got into drones. Got my part 107 certificate a few weeks ago and would like to find work flying drones. I have very little experience flying drones. I’m considering a DJI Air 3S as my first drone. My plan is to start flying it often to gain experience while logging the hours. Can anyone give me advice to gain experience required to fly more advanced drones that will make me a good candidate for a decent job?

Neo is worse!

Even if the flip is louder, the lower tones blend in with surroundings better (AC, engines, etc), and doesn't annoy as much.

Truth be told, they're BOTH really annoying. Enough to the point I'd never own either. Thanks for your test!
