I am curious. When did the legal term vacated first start to mean the same legally as the legal term exonerated?

I'm happy for the exonerated 5 but I can't help but think of the hypocrisy in consigning a documentary about a man who can't defend himself against allegations with major credibility issues and then turning around and preaching about how false allegations occur all the time with the film When They See Us.

Who knew in 2002 that the boys were in fact innocent? The hate for Oprah in the comment thread is astounding. Back in 2002, how was she to know that boys weren't guilty? She wasn't the cop brining the boys in, not the one booking them for the crimes, nor anyone's lawyer, or any other character who could've known for sure that they were victims, too. Her reason to interview these men now is the same as the reason she interviewed the jogger, and was convinced they were guilty: to give a voice to the victim (s) and speak out against the injustice of it all. She's trying to right a wrong as anyone in the wrong should. Feelings towards MJ and her support for two men coming out is a separate matter entirely. Grouping it and hating on her for this interview defeats the purpose which still is to give a platform to the victims, and stand against the injustice of it all.
