Lots of requests for the last track: ‘Absolution’ by Scott Buckley. Go show Scott some love!
ОтветитьThe more you learn about late Western Rome the more you think they deserved to collapse. Senators that hoarded wealth and sacrificed their own people before giving any of it up or accepting reform, betraying valiant generals and loyal tribes left and right, constantly oppressing the lower and middle classes and penalizing competence.
ОтветитьDawg I be watching these videos and constantly think "Peak antagonist" or "peak protagonist" and then remember that these often horrific and tragic stories really happened
You got me damn near tearing up over a fella who died 1600 years ago Lmao
This is damn good.
ОтветитьSo, East killed the West
ОтветитьIn true Roman fashio, they execute the one man who had saved them time and time again.
Rome loves a Good general, however a Great General is nothing more than a threat.
After one battle, Stilicho took so many slaves that the price fell to shit and the entire slave market crashed.
Holy shit, now thats a victory.
RIP Stilicho, you were a Roman’s Roman.
ОтветитьRIP Stilleto. You were a king among men. Pity they were to blind and cruel to see it. It’s a shame mankind is so broken and vile that when one rises above it he is then brought down again by others.
ОтветитьHe was a Berber
ОтветитьHe's one of the most underrated Roman generals of all time
ОтветитьWhat a very Roman end. Their polticial machinations and ambitions lead them to kill the man most able to keep their Empire intact and, by extension, preserve their interests. In the end, all it earned them was a gruesome sacking, more tragedies and in some cases it cost them their own heads.
ОтветитьIn the afterlife to Olympius and Onorius, “So, you killed killed the guy keeping it all together? How does it feel to be the ones who screwed up in such a way that makes Nero look good?”
ОтветитьAlaric basically levelled Greece… he wiped Sparta off the map…
ОтветитьAll Hail Alaric.
ОтветитьMay Olympius and Honorius deserve to rot hell for letting the Empire fall due to greed and treachery. Shame on them for eternity.
ОтветитьLast video music name?
Ответитьits the 300 music for me
ОтветитьFlavius Stilicho, you did not fail the Empire, the Empire failed you
Ответитьa wonder that honorius survived al this
ОтветитьRivals to the death
Stilicho the son in law of Emperor Theodosius in the West capital /Milan /Ravenna
and Eunuch Eutropius in Constantinople capital in East
The successor of Rufinus who had also been Stilicho enemy
11/30 What a TERRIBLE sentence/ Its Senators now place profits above patriotism
Enter new enemy of Stilicho court official Evil Olympius who poisons Emperor Honorius mind against Stilicho
followed by second enemy Constantine III from Britannia
then suddenly Emperor Arcadius dies leaving 7 year old son
Stilicho sees last chance to reunite Empire 12/33 and drive out Constantine III But
At Evil Olympius instigation Roman troops start to massacre Stilicho supporters so Stilicho flees to a Church
where at daybreak August 22 he is beheaded on orders of Evil Olympius and Olympius puppet emperor Honorius
Stilicho son and wife are also brutally murdered because of Olympius evil rumours as well as massacre of
wives and children of Goths who defect and flee to Alaric demanding justice
Exactly 2 years later Alaric conquers Rome but falls ill soon after and dies
and Evil Olympius clubbed to death 15/40 by Stilicho supporter while Constantine III head sent to Honorius
Salute to Stilicho who for 13 years from 395 to 408 held Christian Nicene Western Empire together
Olympus , so mad at foreigners that his actions led to a foreign invasion. It seems that time and time again senators seeking more power and money doom the empire.
ОтветитьThe irony
ОтветитьMore of this story telling style! Awesome! Entertaining! K More Power k!
ОтветитьAll the musuc and sound affects are seriously annoying
ОтветитьTo be fair the late Roman Empire was full of people who at first you will think they wanted it to fall. That's why i see it fall as deserved
ОтветитьStilicho, lived and died a true son of ROME, no greater soul had ever had Elysium,
ОтветитьDid you make those pictures yourself?
ОтветитьGreat video, truly. The music helps too.
ОтветитьSick burn Claudian.....nice.
ОтветитьSo the greedy power hungry politicians killed the one hero trying to save Rome and in turn destroyed themselves. So many of Rome's finest ended up dying betrayed by those closest to them and influenced by others. Sad that Stilicho ended the way he did.
ОтветитьIt's crazy how high quality these videos are. The music is on point. Pictures are excellent. And the artwork is phenomenal. I can't give enough credit but the team is doing an amazing job!
ОтветитьHe did the best he could. More than anyone could’ve asked. I think the story of Stilicho is one every man should take note of. He represents the idea of a man staunchly defending his conception of morality and righteousness in an immoral and unrighteous era. And he fought to the bitter end. One of the greatest men in history no doubt.
ОтветитьWhy the hell don't they make a show about this mans life.
Ответить"Rome will recover; but this is the beginning of the end."
Probably the most consequential sentence in this video. Very sad to see how the greatest empire the West has ever seen rotted from the inside out.
Still the best Historydose video 👍
ОтветитьDo you sacrifice your life to save those who would throw you to the wolves the second they believe you are no longer needed.
ОтветитьThis is quite literally how America is going right now. Every politician putting themselves and their money above allll else, corruption of the highest order, nothing making sense morality wise and so much more. We are going the way of the Roman Empire but it’s worse because we only lasted around 200 years
ОтветитьThe Roman Empire fell the same way all empires do, because of corruption and greed. Not because of barbarians inside and outside the gates. Once they murdered Stilicho, they lost their right to exist. Once the US abandoned the Kurds, we lost all pretenses as a global force for good.
ОтветитьI loved this episode, as someone that loves history this was one of the most emotional and impacting lessons ever. Thank you history dose. You are truly the best story tellers I have ever heard.
Ответитьmake a video on sikhs
ОтветитьWith the amount of intrigues and betrayals going around, Rome deserved its collapse. I wonder what the world would be like if Stilicho followed Caesar's footsteps
Ответитьflavius stilicho The last great general of Rome
ОтветитьSuch a tragic hero he was. Flavius Stilicho shall NEVER be forgotten.
ОтветитьMore like this
ОтветитьBunch of idiots in Western Rome lol
Ответить
