The survival of religious institutions (albeit in a severely weakened state) in the former Soviet bloc is yet another regrettable fact that revisionists should not be forgiven for. Communists must work to exterminate all religion and superstition (no difference between the two) in all its possible variations through scientific and historical education and the abolition of all such institutions. We should firmly reject liberal atheism and agnosticism and make short work of religious cretinism wherever it appears in the public and private spheres.

As someone who is uneducated on leftist topics and literature, your comments really help me understand what Lennin is describing. Especially since it is written in a older version of english. Thank you so much, comrade! ❤️

Hey S4A, thanks for the audiobook, and I've got a question about the text here. On page 15, it is said that the socialist state is the most complete form of democracy, but after that, during the withering of the state, democracy will be "dying down of itself" and "withering away". does this mean that after the state withers away, and the transition to communism is complete, that the communist society will be undemocratic? or is Lenin using democracy in a different way here? Thanks for answering if you do, would be much appreciated.

Easy way to tell our universities aren't socialist: this isn't mandatory reading in any major I've ever seen despite being leagues better than any history, political science, economy, or philosophy text that is assigned in those classes. It really does answer a lot of common questions and gives you a good theoretical foundation for understanding preceding and proceeding socialist works. Will definitely need to read certain parts (or the whole thing) over again to glean everything I can.

Would you be able to point me in the direction of which reading it was where Lenin used the term “bourgeois minded peasant”? And I believe it was referencing people in Ukraine.

Yeah, I appreciate richard Wolff for helping introduce me to Marxism but his idea that we can somehow worker co-op capitalism away is ridiculous. If I had to guess, I'd say he keeps away from revolutionary speech in order to maintain a significant platform to talk about Marxism. He wouldn't be invited to CNN or whatever if they knew he'd talk about an actual revolution to millions of viewers. Whether thats good or bad is up for debate.

I know you might not want to dilute or infringe on the validity of these texts, but I really enjoy your comments interspersed throughout these videos that give modern contexts and hope you could do that more often.

Sometimes I get caught up in the words and lose sight of the point lenin is making and I always end up hoping you come in with a comment to bring perspective.

And I don't mean doing it after every sentence, but like intermittently

One text where I think you did it tastefully and I really enjoyed your comments was on the blackshirts and reds audiobook.

Anyway thank you for all the work you do!

Edit:

nvm the comments pick up in the later chapters. I'll probably go through the first few chapters a few more times. I got caught up in those chapters.

What exactly is blanquism?

The wiki says it's conception of revolution that holds that socialist revolution should be carried out by a relatively small group of highly organized conspirators.

Is that what Lenin means when referencing this?
