I love, love, love that you use scientific language and refer to clinical studies when you discuss products. I also appreciate that you use time stamps (wrong term?) in some of your videos so we can skip ahead if we need to, as well as the fact that you list the journal articles from which you gather your data. Thank you a thousand times over for all the hard work you do for us. I am SUCH a fan! I finally found you when I was desperate for help with skin repair on the bridge of my nose from breakage due to the rough cotton or other fabric and metal nosepieces of my masks during COVID-19. I am turning 65 in a month, and it's time to change my routine from the double cleanse (the second with Castille soap!), B5 gel, and moisturizer I've been using for the past 20 years. (I'm not sure what B5 gel did, if anything!) I also now live in a hard-water area and struggle with dry and flaky hair, scalp, and skin. I have "chicken skin" and itchiness that keeps me awake at night. Nothing has helped with itching so far, including hydrocortisone or oatmeal baths and lotions, but I recall seeing a video in which you describe a good product to deal with that. I'm excited to find that video again. The product was called something like CeraVe "itchy and flaky" -- so romantic, and so utterly my skin. Boo hoo!

Great info!
The only thing that resolved my perioral/atopic dermatitis was to wash my face with distilled or purified water (out of gallons).
No amount of cremes or antibiotics did anything, but purified or distilled water did!

Hello. Great video!
Is it advisable for people to moisturize damp skin if they are living in the areas with hard water? I've noticed that when I moisturize damp skin, it becomes warm and red. However, I don't have any issues moisturizing dry skin. Does it have anything to do with hard water?

Wow, that's exactly what I do - spray thermal water, apply moisturizer and in the summer I freshen my skin when it's too hot outside and yes, I have acne rosacea. Vichy and Bioderma also has thermal waters. I don't know how it is in the US, but in Europe Avene is the cheapest, that's why I always buy Avene thermal water.

I moved from New York to Dallas 4 years ago and my skin has greatly suffered as the water in Dallas is EXTREMELY hard. I noticed every time I went back to NY that my skin became so clear I didn't even need makeup. I got a shower filter and that helped my body but my face is still dry and aggravated. I live in an apartment so I can't get a water softener. I cleanse my face with filtered water but it's still aggravating my skin with random breakouts. It's also very sensitive. There isn't a whole lot else I can do.

not sure if anyone's gonna see this but I'd rly appreciate some help haha! Has anyone ever tried to slug (i.e. put on a rly occlusive cream like Vaseline at night to seal in moisture in your skin) with thermal water under it?

My skin is dehydrated from washing it too much and I have a lot of acne (+ I'm like 80% sure most of it is fungal "acne"), and I'm having a really hard time finding an affordable moisturizer and sunscreen that won't break me out terribly. I've tried CeraVe and a popular (and expensive) national brand from my country and both aggravated my fungal acne a lot. I've also tried the Bioré Aqua Essence sunscreen and it also irritated my skin. While my skin is super sensitive, covered in acne, and my extra money is gone lol, can I just wash my face + spray thermal water + put on Vaseline at nights to moisturize my face? Will this help to rehydrate my skin and regenerate my skin barrier for now, even though I'll need to wash the Vaseline off in the mornings and go completely bare faced during the day (no moisturizer, no sunscreen, nothing at all)?

I did that for the first time last night and my skin feels considerably better today, it's way softer and the itchiness from the fungal acne is gone. But I'm not sure if like this is just a nice sensation and that's it or if this is a real sign that this is good for my face you know lol

My daughter and I contracted MRSA from our FL well water. We have a water softener; however, the well had become contaminated by bacteria growth. The well was dug in the late 80's and, by today's standard, is now considered a shallow well... which can be susceptible to run-off water... which can contain toxic materials and contaminants. We recovered, and oddly my son's skin wasn't affected! *SANITIZE YOUR WELL REGULARLY, AS NEEDED. *APPLY ADDITIVES IN THE BRINE TANK, EACH TIME YOU ADD SALT, TO CLEAN THE RESIN BEADS, SO THEY CAN PROPERLY FUNCTION . ***Private water supplies should be tested annually for coliform bacteria to detect contamination problems early.

I never knew any of this until I had the absolute worst breakout I've ever had. I moved to a new flat and in just two weeks I had super irritated flakey skin all over and was just in so much pain and this went on for over two months until it finaly clicked, what if it's because of my shower??? If you could see just how hard that water is 😪 fully bright white rings wherever the water had dried off. I don't use that shower anymore, I shower at my grandma's who fortunatelly has a good filter in her building. I personally love Avene's line for sensitive dry skin, it feels so good, I only use the spring water for my face, I try to barely use the water at my house bc it destroyes me.

I was using Avene cleansers and moisturizers for years - they were the only products that wouldn't strip or irritate my dry sensitive skin. Then I tried Cerave moisturizing cream, and fell in love with it! Now I am also using Cerave gentle facial cleanser. I can honestly say that my skin actually feels better now, and I pay like 2-3x less money for my skin care.

My eyes would tear when I was younger. I specifically remember one time getting out of the shower. My lower legs always irritated after showering.

It always went away if salt was regularly added to our softener. This is 21 years of testimony in the same home. FYI

On a trip to Peru my skin was irritated after a shower there. Doubt they had a softener.

We have a private water well and it is very alkaline. My husband has been battling exzema for over a year and I’ve told him that I think it’s from our hard water. I’m very careful with my skin care and body care products and make sure they are very moisturizing. The good new is that we’ve complained so much, that our township is running the public water line down our country road to connect to our house. I was told that the new water treatment plant near our home removes all impurities from the water and we will need no filtration, chlorine, or water softeners.
