Fun fact: The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is actually used as the main item driving the plot in a 1996 point-and-click adventure game for PC called Titanic: Adventure Out of Time, one of the first PC games an 11-year-old me ever played.

What a lot of people don't understand is that when the Titanic sank it took a lot of millionaires down with it. It affected our economy. I'm more interested in the people that decided not to get on the Titanic because they knew it was going to sink I think.

I read an article back in the 90s of the initial excitement of treasures to be found on Titanic but when they found her in two pieces ,deteriorating and the massive debris field. The explorers were mostly stuck picking from the debris as entering deep into the ships hold was too dangerous.

“Happier ending” = a seawater-damaged violin that survived only because it was strapped to Wallace Hartley’s body in a leather case, recovered by the Mackay Bennett, and sent to his grieving fiancée in England , as opposed to being lost or recovered from the ocean 100 years later. Saddest story ever.

I've got a good one for you! As a child I had strange reading habits, for some reason. I read two books, (I think it was a book and a magazine article) that mentioned a famous pharaohs mummy was aboard the Titanic. It may not show up in your data, because it was not with the rest of the shipments in the hold. It was in the Captain's cabin, the furthest thing from the water, and moisture. It was sent from a museum in London to a museum in New York. There you go, I wish I could tell you who's mummy it was, but those Egyptian names were not easy to read or pronounce.

Dragon’s blood is the name of a resin that comes from a rather special tree also known as Croton Lechleri. The colour of the resin is how it got its name, and it has a long history of medicinal uses by the indigenous people of South America due to it's antimicrobial properties. It helps to speed up healing of wounds and prevents infection
