Early 80s newscast: "Kids might be addicted to a fantasy land in videogames".
Early 2020's newscast: "Hey kids, you might be the wrong sex, cut off your genitals at age 6".

The arcade was ground zero for the revolution against adults...

And then we became one

Crazy watching this today, the arcade was the most social thing any teen had ever, looking at teens today playing games at home alone makes me sad the times are gone.

"Video Fantasy land" back then? You should see it now! Still better than being a drug addict.

The battle against games is never going to end haha. Nowadays it should be common sense to let people enjoy games, people who get addicted to games to the point of doing something bad or being socially anxious already have mental health issues, normal people just enjoy and live their life happily.

It's gotten better. Now people can actually go out in the sunlight and cross the street without looking, enjoying your favorite game all the while.

Ha they were worried about them being introverted. Just wait social media and home consoles are on the way 😅 these kids were way more social going to the arcades. Sure they played games but were constantly communicating with others. No cell phones, no internet. Gold

Great reminder that government cronies have had control of televised news media since the beginning, always pushing an agenda. Can't have kids getting good at games of skill or they might be able to out game "big brother." Modern games have easy mode and distract people, so now it's okay if we are addicted.

No, THIS was the greatest era in video gaming. Consoles were taking off but arcades had the best games. Walking into those arcades and hearing that cocophany of electronic sounds assault your ears... was amazing man. A whole new form of entertainment being created and we were part of it.
