I’m also guessing you change the settings to 4K? I’m I right? I have to in my old IPhone 8 to get the best quality. I haven’t shot much of my videos in this format though.
ОтветитьI’m on a budget and do need to upgrade from my IPhone 8 that doesn’t hold a charge much more than 3 hours if that! I have been shooting a lot of videos on this old phone and do have a Panasonic HC-V180. It has a incredible zoom but really not more clear than this! I need a new phone so I’m going to look for this!
ОтветитьHi Joey This is absolutely amazing.... I Have a I Phone 14 Pro max and i'm going to filming my first Documentary / Film , Should I use Blackmagic Cam App or native camera ? for a post production I will use DaVinci Resolve. Thank you in advance for your suggestion
ОтветитьI knew immediately A was the iPhone because phone lenses are super wide. Also A was much sharper than B which is indicative of a smaller sensor and B had much better color tones so that had to be the Red
ОтветитьWhat settings were you shooting with on the iphone 14 pro?
Ответитьon the nightshots i saw it because of the motionblur
ОтветитьSome of the bright spots clipping or having less range transitioning to shadows gave the iphone away pretty fast but at a glance not too noticeable. Excited I just got the phone.
ОтветитьSurprisingly iPhone looks better to me 😆
ОтветитьYes, showing the video on an ipad and not on a larger screen (even a large TV) plays to the iphone. I have been shocked by the still shots when put directly into lightroom, C1 or DxO and have seen remarkable quality,,, as long as the light is strong. However shooting a 12 pro at a concert is not going to deliver the quality you want unless it is supposed to look like a painting instead of a realistic image. Also cropping images is part and parcel to photography and the iphone images don't hold up when you do this. They work well as full size, on a small screen, bot zoomed or cropped. The video comes out much cleaner and the colors are much more true to life than the photos. I have yet to uncover why screen shots out of a video lose their clarity and color when turned into a photo on the iphone. This is really annoying . Anyone one have an explanation for this, and a solution other than post?
ОтветитьiPhone 14 Pro had the best quality
ОтветитьDO IT NOW WITH THE NEW IPHONE 15 PRO :D
Ответитьhow do they look if viewing the footage on a big cinema screen?
ОтветитьI think on certain clips it's almost impossible to tell, but I think the dynamic range is a bit better on the Red and the depth of field is shallower. Also with difficult lighting like bright lights in dim alleyway, you could see the optical quality of the iPhone being inferior. A lot more lens flare showing up on the video.
ОтветитьThe fact that you can barely tell the difference shows that the extra money isn't worth it
ОтветитьIf you were going to shoot a low budget rock video, onstage, indoors, dark, a bunch of lights, smoke etc, would the IPhone14 hold up or?
Thanks in advance...
Great videoo likee that examplee likeee :D
ОтветитьYou’re comparing an iPhone to a 10K camera restricted to a very limited setup. Res/frame rate, lens, depth of field …also the iPhone has a sharper look, not exactly sought after. Of course for a general story telling use it’s more than enough.
ОтветитьAre these people blind ? Took me half a second to see which one was which… however props to the iPhone for its price/quality ratio, very impressive
Ответитьiphone looks good but you can see in the super dark area, and the hdr, ankd vivd colors, it gives it away
ОтветитьComparing the price of Iphone, it totally does justice. I guess it hits the competition hard for the price it is being offered
ОтветитьiPhone 14 Pro’s hdr videos are amazing
ОтветитьI guessed it right. Every phone today has that sharp contrast between the lighter and the darkest parts of the scene due to limited dynamic range.
ОтветитьHow did you shoot like film Please Tell Me With 14 pro
ОтветитьAs a user I love 14 pro max 🫶
ОтветитьWhat do you think about 13 pro vs 14 pro camera comparison with are the good and bad thinks.
ОтветитьJust watch it on a bigger screen. Then You Will see why an iPhone is not usable for real work.
Ответить1. I think the biggest advantage is the size of the phone, it is always at hand. I lose a lot of beautiful shots just because I can't carry my camera everywhere with me.
2. The phone has reached the required quality in which the viewer will not see a strong difference.
3. The main thing is an interesting story and composition.
4. The era of vertical videos is coming. Instagram reels is something, it's much easier for me to shoot reels on my phone.
5. Easy to handle, the phone is more forgiving.
6. Very good stabilization on the phone, to get the same level from the camera you need more money and effort.
7. My camera gives a really good wow effect, only in good light. But the same goes for the phone.
I came here because I am picking up an iPhone 14 Pro Max today and was curious about the video. I've been working in video and film production for 10 years. I am shocked at how good this looks. Yeah, so it's not perfect. The fact that it's close is good enough for 99% of low budget use-cases that don't involve a client actually on set. I will for sure be sneaking b-roll shots into commercials from time to time. Why not? It's the story that matters anyways not the highlight rolloff, lol.
ОтветитьPls don't campare a mobile cam with dSLR/mirrorless camera 😂
ОтветитьTo me, the biggest give away is in the highlights. Particularly if the sun is hitting something, the yellows always render an odd glow that feels a bit unnatural. Otherwise, it's very difficult to tell. The iphone does much better keeping color in the sky with dark foreground elements.
ОтветитьAs a retired Hollywood camera operator, I maintain that the story line is key. No amount of pro equipment can salvage a bad movie. And in line with that, the iPhone certainly seems to meet any challenge and is sufficient to tell the story.
ОтветитьAt the end i would live without a 10k camera, Thanks for the comparison.
Ответитьi won
ОтветитьIt was very close, but I’ve guessed right. iPhone doesn’t have that beautiful lens flares as the Komodo and a cine lens. Also, when shooting lamp posts, there was a bright rim around the lamp, and the middle was darker on the iPhone. The RED (or any real camera) doesn’t have that. I still prefer to shoot on real cameras, but I have shot projects on my iPhone 14 Pro Max and I was still fascinated by the results.
ОтветитьMaaan, my choice was wrong :( I couldn’t pick which one is iPhone ….
Your videos are awesome!!!
These cherrypicked examples make the iPhone 14 look great. But when you are out there shooting real content in real scenarios, the iPhone is not even 20% as good as even a mirrorless with the same price tag like the Sony A6500
ОтветитьJoey, are you shooting with a VND on the iPhone in all of the shots?
ОтветитьNo matter what you all say smartphones will never replace real cameras
ОтветитьThat was easy. iPhone just can't get those saturated colours, and also the inscriptions on iPhone are more blurry.
Ответитьwhat were the camera settings on the iphone?
ОтветитьI guessed it right 👍
ОтветитьThis most definitely threatens the future of cine cameras, but i think mirrorlesses still have a decade or 2 of relevance left.
The real advantage of a smartphone camera lies in the software running atop the chip behind the sensor.
If Companies like Red, Arri, Canon, Sony et cetera, did just a little more R&D in that area, cine cameras would certainly die out for sure,
and all Pro Cameras would be mirrorless hybrids, because big sensor + highly dynamic computation = total domination.
I think the other consideration now is that for the price of a new iphone you can buy something like a Fujix100v that has the small form factor and produces much more authentic looking images both photo & video. So if you're into photography or videography rather than upgrading your phone to get a better camera, you're better off just keeping your old phone and buying a dedicated camera.
ОтветитьIphone is very competitive in video mode but not close to full frame cameras in photo mode. My old Nikon D800 shoots MUCH better portraits than any other iphones or telephone. ❤ So video yes, photo no.
ОтветитьIn the summer of 2022 I tried to film in Rome with my iPhone 12 Pro max, after about 10 minutes the screen was totally dark, so you couldn't see anything. The same thing happened with my Iphone 13 mini. Does anybody have an idea. However, according to the internet, it seems to be a known problem (bug?) with no solution. How does the iphone 14 react?
ОтветитьI have a 10,000 dollar camera and an iPhone 14 Max Pro with Beastgrip lenses and guess what? The large bulky camera is no longer used, I use it for all professional stuff, legal depositions, architectural, short-films, portraits, epic landscape photography, etc. Why would you want to carry around a bulky over-sized camera? Why would you hike with that on a mountain or walk around in a city? The iphone may not have the fancy full size sensor, but if you combine with post-editing AI software it comes pretty close and nobody is going to care that you used a full-sized sensor. Mary my words, we are just a few years away from heavy bulky cameras becoming obsolete, this includes DSLRs. Technology and AI is exponentially growing at a rate that most people can't even comprehend. YES, you will have optical and sensor tech on iPhones rivaling high-end Sony cameras, it's not a question of IF, it's a question of when.
ОтветитьI'd say for amateurs like myself, an iPhone Pro would definitely suffice for most purposes, such as basic street photography and vlogging. And the filming you've done with the iPhone is magnificent!
