Gibraltar is NOT an integral part of the UK, unlike Ceuta and Melilla are of Spain. The UK therefore does not border Spain, Gibraltar does. The UK has responsibility for Gibraltar's foreign policy, for example, however Gibraltar is in all essence a country in its own right but cannot be classified as independent.

Only France, the Kingdom of Denmark and the Kingdom of the Netherlands have fully absorbed all of their overseas territories into the state, but Spain's territories are not regarded as overseas, purely extensions of their entire state although there are degrees of self governance, very much the same as the 'main' Spanish provinces do anyway. Ceuta and Melilla are autonomous cities.

My dad told me a story on how he tried to go fishing around the coast of that Spanish Moroccan rock area in the 1980s and he said that he just found a bunch of people talking on the Morocco side because they where being watched by soldiers who wouldn’t let them anywhere on the Spanish side and they cooked a fish a dude found and ate it and there all still friends today 😂

The Moroccans must've thought that their troops killing Spaniards would just be murder and not an international incident, since both countries rule the island. And because both countries rule the island, the Moroccans must've thought that technically it wouldn't even be an invasion. And they probably thought they could just act like the Moroccan government and its military had nothing to do with it. And just act like the island then became free for the taking and transferred not from Spain to Morocco, but from Spain to random killers to Morocco. And just act like it was random killers who officially ruled the island when the invaders were to let Morocco take full control of the island and it would all go peacefully and there would be no war between Morocco and Spain.

Man I wish Spain got to keep Spanish Morocco. Spain would have been on both sides of the Straits of Gibraltar, making a bored tunnel necessary enough to build to link western Europe with western Africa. Unfortunately, the proposed dam across the Straits of Gibraltar to protect the Mediterranean coastal countries from coastal flooding by sea level rise certainly will not be built. A floating bridge is possible. And whether a dam or floating bridge were built, an underwater tunnel at each end would allow ships to still cross through the Straits of Gibraltar.

Those places have never been part of Morocco. They were Spain before Morocco Ever exited and so, can't be returned. Also you have put together territorios that beca e parte os Spain at very diferente times.

haha Spaniard here, calm down to all those whose heads are exploding in comments, it is much easier than that, Spain is a transcontinental country, Spain has territories in Europe and Africa as part of its territory, since they are not colonies or zones of overseas, are a direct part of the state and the elected president is voted for and its citizens have the same rights as in Madrid.
