Oh! I was thinking of doing a challenge like this too but only in Spanish (no English). I want to explore Spanish language literature and read more Latin American authors. I feel like I tend to read too many books translated from English into Spanish, or books by authors from Spain. I might join you to be honest. It sounds like a cool idea/plan.
ОтветитьOmg! I'm doing almost the exact same thing for the francophone world right now! I'm currently only reading 1 book per country/region (in French) and have been considering embarking on the same quest for Spanish in the future! I'm really looking forward to your updates on this, maybe we can trade names of books we like if I end up doing the Spanish version and you end up doing the French version eventually!!
ОтветитьOmg how exciting, I'm totally gonna try this along with you. I actually just started reading "Soy Malintzin" by Pedro J. Fernandez which is a historical fiction novel about Malintzin, an indigenous woman from Mexico who became Hernán Cortés's translator during his conquest against the Aztecs. She spoke both Maya and Nahuatl, and so she was able to help him and the Spaniards communicate with Montezuma (and we all know how that ended). This is the first adult fiction book I've attempted to read in Spanish because my level is still solidly intermediate, but I've found that although there are a lot of words I don't know, it's not difficult at all to understand the story. Also, I've been listening to the audiobook and the narrator is incredible, I highly recommend it! Looking forward to see which books you choose for the challenge.
