Hey decent video, I got excited and bought a subscription for Shadow PC, but when I tried connecting the Pico 4 via Virtual Desktop, it says the computer is unreachable. I then reached out to the Shadow guys and they were not much help either, apart from telling me that their Shadow VR only works on Quest.

Got my Pico 4 today. Looking forward to try this out.

Interesting technology, but FAR too convoluted for a casual gamer. I can see in the future this being a one click cloud process 👌🏻👌🏻

Guys, I am new to VR. What is the best headset to buy. Money is not a problem.

this is super frustrating, i whanted to buy a pico 4 so badly. Preorder it from 15 octomber, its 16 november and nothing. After dozens of emails and calls i still cant get a Pico headset in EU.
it is ridiculus, i think i am just gona give up and buy a second hand quiest 2.
I hate the state of VR, meta still haze no real competitor sad ... still no direct pc conection still no AAA VR games apart from Half LIfe.

I think Mrtv should have a portion of Mrtv that focuses on VR Benchmarks with the most 5 Common headsets and the top 5 gpu's

I have used shadow now a while the problem is the get more new user but the don’t upgraded the network so users get bad ping, I have always ping between 31-45 so i have multi accounts so I need to jump between when one account gets bad ping

I was interested in Shadow PC until I saw what they use as a GPU. My old PC has a GTX1080, which is used for the cheaper version of shadow PC. Then the faster option costs 15 Euro more per month. I can get a RTX3080ti for around 400 Euro.... I will use that GPU most likely for the next two to three years.... in the end Shadow PC would be a lot more expensive.
If you don't have a PC, then it is a good option....

45€/month is 500€ a year for a pretty decent 2070 gaming pc. Would be nice seing a 3080-4080 option as that would likely be better than my i7 1080 pc, given im running 1000/1000 Mbit fiber, the latency would be totally dependent on server location.

So with an android phone.
1. Install shadow to phone
2. Install VR desktop & Steam on Shadow PC (using your phone)
3. Install VR desktop on Pico 4
4. Connect Pico 4 to shadow PC via VR desktop (client in pico headset, Host on Shadow PC)
5. Start Steam gane from Android phone in vr desktop client running in your shadow PC.

This is pretty sweet given the price if GPUs and PCs overall + no pc that takes up space. Just keyboard+ mouse to android phobe + TV as monitor connected to phone (if you want).
I wonder how well this would work on a new phone, given they run linux kernel and overall connect speed is pretty nice on WiFi5-6

The Future of vr

Cloud Gaming is Awful. Anything that requires precision timing, is going to suffer.. way too much latency. There is a good reason why STADIA, failed.
Only places like Japan, or certain places in Korea... MIGHT have Somewhat Acceptable levels of response times. But at what cost?

I personally, do not tend to buy Any game, that does not come with a CD install disc. I want to know that NOBODY can take away my ability to Install a game that I paid for.
The same goes for Bluray movies, and Music CDs. When you accept Online Rental... you risk losing any and all control over your media. You also run the risk of someone banning you, for any reason... and taking away any and all access... with virtually no way to challenge the ban (Ive seen many people complain about being banned... and they never did anything wrong. Possibly a hacker at play, causing the issue... but no way for them to prove / disprove it... and no human responses were available).

And on top of it all... you are getting a Worse experience, and paying more for it... over the course of a long period of time. If you buy a powerful graphics card, that might last you a good 10 yrs of usage. And if you are the kind that needs to update more often, you can sell off your old card... to gain funds for the upgrade.

Seriously... Stop $hilling Cloud gaming.
Unless the current Internet speeds more than Double, its not going to be a reality for the masses. And even worse... since many streaming services are now going 4k, and potentially up to 8k... the bandwidth problem will still be an issue, several years from now (even WITH all of their server and cable upgrades).

It sounds great for all those who, like me, don't feel like buying a super-computer to play.
But what are internet connection requirements to play? Is my 45/10 Mbps connection good enough?
And what about our devices like joysticks, hotas systems, wheels and so on?

The technical specs describe it as high-end hardware. A 1080 gtx, 12gb ram, a 3.5ghz cpu of unknown core count, and a 256gb ssd is something you'd throw back if you went dumpster diving.

I can't imagine this working. At work we used Shadow (nothing to do with VR) and users had plenty of issues with input lag.
Can't even imagine how nauseating this might be on VR.

This + a fast remote connection is what's needed for AR glasses to become ubiquitous & usable away from home. 😎

Its no wonder that HL alyx stutters on godlike if that pc has a gtx 1080, if does so even on my 3080 on godlike.
