Emerson Zanzibar Foundation Visual Art Awards 2022

Many Congratulations to the recipient of the 2nd Emerson Zanzibar Foundation Art Award; Abdalla for his painting “Energetic”.

Congratulations also to 1st Runner-up Babu for his painting “Sokomuhungo Street”, 2nd Runner-up Y.Kola for his painting “Swahili and 'The People's Choice' award goes to Hamad Mbarouk Hamad.

Announcement of the recipients and presentation was held at the Emerson Art Gallery, next to Emerson on Hurumzi, on 27th July. The awards were presented by the Minister of Tourism and Heritage Hon. Simai Mohammed Said.

The theme for this year was' Maisha ya Zanzibar '(Zanzibar Life), encouraging a deep and creative focus for our artists' experiences and interpretation of life and heritage in Zanzibar.

The Emerson Zanzibar Foundation's Visual Arts 2022 award participating artists' work is exhibited at the newly created Emerson Zanzibar Foundation Art Gallery. Entry to the Emerson Art Gallery at the Emerson Hurumzi Hotel is free, Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm until 18th September 2022. Be sure to drop in and look at the amazing local talent on display.

Many congratulations also to the recipient of the 7th Emerson Zanzibar Foundation Film award; the Zanzibar film 'DJ Diblo', directed by Ramadhan Ibrahim Omar (IG: djdiblo)

There are three annual awards be the Emerson Zanzibar Foundation that promote Zanzibar arts: Zanzibar International Film Festival and Sauti za Busara International Music Festival, as well as the Dhow Country Music Academy, all connected to Emerson Skeen's original vision.
