How to Change Facebook Profile Picture Without Notifying Everyone - 2021

It doesn't work on a PC, It says the profile picture is public and there is no way to change it. The photo I used is in my photos but IT IS private there but notifications are sent if you use it for your profile

I can confirm that it works flawlessly on a page as well, not just the normal profiles.

this doesn't work. They still know. 50 comments from my aunts about how good I look even though everyone knows I'm a fat pos. I just want to change it on the sly and I don't think there's a way to do it.

I have a question......I have posted a picture on my timeline.....and now I have about 30 likes and 20 comments. How do I select this timeline picture to be my profile picture....and here is the tricky part.....how do I make this my profile picture and still carry all the likes and comments I have accumulated to also go with the profile picture?

My problem is that even if I don't share it to my newsfeed my friends still get notification that I changed my profile picture.

For all those who are saying it still posts and that the video ends with an image of it being posted, there is still a lock symbol on that post, which should technically mean the privacy of the post is anything but open.

Today I tried it myself, I changed my profile picture from my mobile while unchecking the box in the video. Then I went to the picture on my desktop and changed the visibility (click on the globe icon) from whatever it was to 'Only me". Nobody saw it :D I asked my friends to make sure (y) This means of COURSE the photo has changed, just there wont be a notification or a post people can like. I don't use FB so I don't have people looking up my profile, but if you are a common user of course people are eventually going to see you changed your profile picture, this is just to avoid the update post that appears on peoples' timelines

Hmmm, at the end of video he scrolls down and it literally shows a post that says “profile updated 3m ago”… 😒

I couple years back I was able to do this by changing it but turning off public setting / making it private, then after a few days setting it to public again. that was on a laptop though, not the app.

So, you changed your new pfp and cleared the mark on news feed but it still appears, I think. So, view your photo. Touch the 3 dots on the top right and edit privacy and do it only me. :)
