I used to be able to get McKenna BiB 10 for about $26 all day every day before Fred Minnick gave it top spot at the World Spirits Competition. It was hands down my favorite bourbon as the value for money was insanely high. Now, around $70+ (if you can even find it here in NC), pssht, keep it.
ОтветитьI’ve had 2 bottles oh McKenna that were delicious. 3rd bottle I bought… not so much… I guess that’s the way single barrels are
ОтветитьOld elk is terrible
ОтветитьI recently bought a bottle of 1835 because it says Texas Made on the front. It wasn't until I got home and read the back until I noticed it says distilled in Kentucky. So I overpaid for a bottle of Jack. Not falling for that again.
ОтветитьWoodford Reserve tastes identical to Buffalo Trace. I drank a lot of it, I know.
ОтветитьIt’s an opinion. Everyone has one. I dislike it when people call bourbon “juice”
ОтветитьI feel like your taste is right with mine.
ОтветитьWhat ya think about Turkey Honey ?? Reply requested.!
ОтветитьNever liked Weller, had them all and they are meh.
I’ll fight you on one because I love statesman for new bourbon drinkers it is a gateway pour.
If these are still being produced and sold, it means that enough bottles are still selling that a profit is being made.
Almost everything related to a particular brand of bourbon is going to be subjective to the individual drinker, especially the value of the product. In general, if someone really likes a product, they won't care how much it costs. (given relative prices) They will keep buying it because they really like it.
With almost any product, there are costs that you just can't logically justify, but people will STILL be willing to pay more for what they like. That feeling of overpaying is subjective too.
What some people call too expensive for the quality, others will purchase, with no problems at all because its something they've developed a taste for. There are people who think Starbucks coffee is too expensive, but there are plenty of other people who feel that the quality of the product is worth the price.
What's funny is I bought my first bottle of Bookers "mighty fine batch" today. Just had to try it. Also picked up a Knob Creek 12yr though and a Rare Breed rye. We'll see how they pan out. Unfortunately I've figured that I need to taste them all myself to really know what I think.
ОтветитьWidow Jane 10 year in MO 54
ОтветитьAgain, want to make sure any newbies just don’t take him at his word. OWA107 I think blows WSR out of the water. I can’t really drink WSR anymore, and OWA107 is phenomenal IMO. Love it at $50 over WSR at $25. But respect your opinions!
ОтветитьI’m not sure how anyone can look at the value of a Bookers and then apply that logic to all of them. While I certainly haven’t tried every Bookers expression, I know they all have a completely different makeup from other batches. For me, the 2022-03 “Kentucky Tea” is an absolutely fantastic bottle. Even Fred Minnick had it as one of his top 10 bourbons of the year. I also understand some of the other Bookers arent as good, but that’s my point. These batches can just be too different to rate all of them similarly.
ОтветитьWidow Jane 10 & 15 year are great
ОтветитьThe first one would make a nice looking bong.
ОтветитьThank you for your opinion
ОтветитьDisagree completely on the Weller 107. One of my favourites and I get a bottle every time it comes to the LCBO. For $20 more, it's way better than the special reserve.
ОтветитьPlus if you buy the handle of willet pot still it is absolutely massive😂
ОтветитьHyped bourbon is why I drink age statement single malt
ОтветитьWow you insinuated jack daniels barrel proof is better than elijah craig barrel proof smh
Ответитьin your opinion, right???😮
ОтветитьMcKenna 10 is a totally hit-or-miss bottle. I’ve had batches that were easily a 9/10 and others that were drain pours. Terrible QC at the distillery or their rickhouses/barrels have no consistency, I don’t know. If I run across several on the shelf in the wild I always try to buy bottles from different batches. It’s a crapshoot between absolutely delicious and chokingly awful.
ОтветитьI disagree on the Weller Antique. I really like it, but it’s a personal choice.
Ответить107 is fantastic, if you like beam you like bookers, I think bourbon in a lot of cases will let you down when your expectations are not realistic.
ОтветитьMckenna at 30 a bottle excellent deal, but at 60+ a bottle I'd go Noah's mill or rowans creek or redbrest
ОтветитьTry lusty claw..cool bottle terrible juice
ОтветитьSorry, love Antique 107. Will drink that all night long. Bookers Cask Strength is damn good. 100% worth it at $100, the other 4 i agree with you on.
ОтветитьStarahans.
Old Pepper.
Glenkinchie.
Hennessy White.
Chopin
Rest I dnt care
I try a lot stuff
Those above cant go wrong
Put all wellers on the list. All overpriced and weird
Ответить1) Henry McKenna 10 year is great. Beats a lot of other whiskey/bourbon with those great flavor notes. 100 proof and with rising costs on a lot of others, it’s worth 70 in my opinion.
2) Weller Antique is not my favorite however at a reasonable price is a great buy. 107 proof lots of good flavor notes. I’m a huge Weller fan and even love SR but would pick the higher proof every time.
3) I have not gotten to test the first two Woodford Masters but the batches since have been phenomenal. I have the historic barrel entry no. 18, the batch proof 124.7 and the Sonoma triple finish and they are exceptional.
I enjoyed the 107 over eagle rare and eh Taylor
Ответить👌👍🤝🥂for a new subscriber from cold cold wintery Moscow😉
ОтветитьHad a pour of stagg jr for my first time it blew my mind need a bottle now
ОтветитьHow do you feel about a bourbon cold Horse soldier cask or any of them?
ОтветитьSaying you shouldn’t have a bottle of bourbon and not get it because the shape of the bottle is wrong
ОтветитьI think you don’t like any whiskey that cost more the $60
ОтветитьYou lost me a Weller 107 bro. Lol. I find it really good
ОтветитьThat’s funny, my bottle of 107 is my favorite one that’s opened on my shelf. Cherry vanilla bomb! To each their own 🤷🏼♂️
ОтветитьI stumbled on to an Antique 107 a couple years ago while just starting out and I like it a lot. Can’t find it now though. Like you said though, everyone’s taster is different. Cheers and thanks for the video!
ОтветитьIve been drinking awhile Im from texas, but I just turned 21 a month ago, and I've been trying new whiskeys and bourbons. What are your thoughts on MB Roland's Kentucky Straight Unfiltered Bourbon? Lately I'm trying to get away from Jack Daniels, Bulliet Bourbon, and all the other generic brands I've been sipping on for years, Crown etc. What is some bourbons you would reccomend starting out with? I seem to like the darker stuff personally. Frontier whiskey and Jack Daniel's single barrell select is alright but Im trying to broaden my palette and such.
ОтветитьThis guy seems like he should be drinking White Claw not whiskey.. passing on his advise
Ответить1st time viewer of your channel. I appreciate your honest opinions. What I appreciate more is your comments with comparable recommendations. JD was a great recommendation. Most of the new JD products are pretty damn good. I still can't drink Old No. 7.
Ответитьmakers mark over everything.
ОтветитьWell done and defended
ОтветитьNot bad. I agree with 60%. Antique 107 is my jam. So good.
ОтветитьOld Forrester 1920 is an odd choice but 3 bottles at different store … you’ll discover the taste is not consistent some are very peppery
ОтветитьI don’t care about the shape of a bottle …. I truly enjoy willett burbon
