Thanks Marc! this video inspired me to experiment with the Klanhhelm MJUC on the 2 buss for colour. I’ve tried using this compression plug in so the GR meter just barely moves. it adds some low end weight to mixes.

Taupe (rhymes with hope) is the name of a color. Kind of tan. Used a lot on carpet and upholstery.

Is this MDN singing?

wow, i tried the atr-102 + uad 560 combo on a few of my mixes and it is so damn good, just adds some kind of 3d type feel on the coloration, best tip ever!

Beautiful ! the P42 + API 560 eq is an incredible combo. Probably my fav for this track. Punctuate by NewFangled works fine too. I agree that the 2 others could be better on some punchiest tracks, a bit more agressives or less warm I would say. By the way this actual track is really nice, low ends are deep, brushes are sharps and warm. Deep & sharp but warm overall sound !!! love it ;) Thank you Daniel ! Blessings from Mauritius ;)

This is a beautiful mix. I looked up Todd Kessler from this and am listening to this album. I couldn't find credits anywhere on the internet. This album is mesmerizing. I really love it.

Cheers, Marc. Your approach to bus compression (master and other busses) has really informed my strategy for the mixing I've been doing so far this year. I think pretty well every bus in every session has a compressor on it these days, and none of them are reducing anything more than a DB. On any one bus it's almost hard to hear, but if you bypass them all and bring them back in it really does help things to feel so much more natural.

Why do they compare the p42 to Neve 1084,?

It really depends on the track and the engineers vision for the end product. You can easily try those same two plugins on the buss on another song and it won't work :)

The glue comp comes stock with Ableton. I had been using it as a 'auto-fix my crappy mix' plugin for years -- mixing into it, hell even tracking into it (yes, my mixes stink!)

1. 560/ATR - Opens things up nicely...especially the drums to my ears. Very cool!
2. Taupe placed the vocals perfectly just barely on top of the mix. It seemed to do 'glue' better to my ears than the Glue plug. 🙂

Hi Daniel do you get the same gratification using these five as opposed to using the hardware you got? I had an ssl6 and got to realise it was too small for what I needed. So I’m still carrying on with my vision of a hybrid studio. @ warren any suggestions for a descent mixer . I really like that audient in the £10 k range. If I can find something cheaper with similar capabilities would be amazing 🎉. Went over with this one 😂

Very Nice! I demoed the P42 its nice, but and for some reason really prefer the saturation of the Noise Ash Need Preamps ,, speacially the 31102! I really like the True Iron on mixbuss, subtle, but tight the low end, very affordable magic plugin, thanks Marc, really like your videos! Greetings from Brazil!

Not going to lie, I think sometimes I should just hang up the mic cables b/c I can't hear the shift when Marc toggles the ATR and 560 in/out. I have pretty decent OLLO SX4s too which I trust. I could hear the P42 and Taupe though, so that's something to ease my concern lol

Marc is really awesome sound engineer it’s always a joy and pleasure to see him on this wonderful channel and to learn from him!

I'm not sure what's more valuable - Marc's experience and advice OR the insanely high-spec studio computer he must be running in order to host Acustica's Taupe plugin while mixing in real-time! I managed to figure out which preset he's using for Taupe (which is great), but that one instance of Taupe immediately brought my CPU to its knees, and then randomly stopped producing any audio output when I adjusted the settings lol!? Acustica seem to have turned a big corner by drastically reducing the CPU-drain of their plugin ecosystem with the newer additions, one can only hope that they fix Taupe at some point soon...

I don't know, to my ears I really don't like what the ATR 102 and 560 is doing. Seems to be collapsing the stereo image and restricting the bass. The cytomic sounds nice, bringing the vocal to the front.

am i the only one that thinks widening on mixbus or master is a bad bad idea and that widening should only take place strategically on individual tracks? cuz it makes the song sound incoherent and smeared. and the only plugins worth my salt here is the p42 saturator, very nice and warm and cymatic glue
