Having just replayed the original trilogy after these ones, I’m not sure what it is, this new storyline feels similar to what happened to Star Wars after Disney took over or the whole Marvelization of entertainment. Something about the new trilogy’s story just feels weak and moments like this feel unearned. Makarov and Shepherd aren’t as intimidating or interesting as the original characters too. The whole thing has no soul or passion.

Hopefully ghost kills makarov in the next one. The way ghost interacted with soap i think hes lost a few people he was close with which is whe he seemed to not even want to be leading soap at first. But over time as he got to know him and they bonded, he started to really care about him just to lose him. The way they set ghost up he seems like he has that punisher/john wick effect to him so it makes sense that hes the one to kill makarov in the next game. Probably brutally too

Captain price just didn't have the reaction I was expecting in the original mw3 he is in shambles and begs soap to stay alive and even says "stay with me son" as he dies

The team spreading his ashes was a really touching scene. It's just too bad the death scene before it was one of the most wasted deaths for a major character I've seen in any video game. The game as a whole was plain terrible.

The one line that could be added for Price
‘It should’ve been me’

Shepherd should’ve saw what was coming at him. If he didn’t order TF141 to keep Makarov alive, Soap would not have died. Soap’s death would be Shepherd’s fault.

this has to be the worst death scene in any COD game, there's 0 emotion from anyone but ghost. no last words, didnt die like a hero, no nothing. 1/10 game.

I really don’t get this campaign at all. Kill off one of the main characters in the game and then that’s it? There is literally 0 pay off for the entire campaign like what is the main objective of the game I finished it last week and still have no idea.

That was the worst deaths ever, they killed one of the best characters so anticlimactic.

Solid death scene, yes the main characters are by most standards like superhuman but that’s only for gameplay standards, the characters aren’t invincible but we like power trips, the actual realism is meant to be portrayed through cutscenes, such as soaps death. So when you try and make a story that people like for realism while making a game for people to enjoy a power trip you tend to have a bit of a disconnect. However if you take that thought into account (and use rational thought) you can see how this death is well written story wise, it holds to the realism, it emotional because it makes you feel unsatisfied because that’s how death really is. Sure it’s hard to believe after one man army style killing shit loads of enemies but that part is meant to be pleasing to the brain in a simple way during story downtime. Is this game worth it no, is this objectively well written as a death, yes. He died like any soldier would, true to his personality. Only complaint to be had here is that he didn’t go for the kill on makarov but getting shot in what could’ve been in the lungs would make even the best of us inaccurate. Those made he didn’t get a heartfelt goodbye seem to misunderstand the point of the story, the story of the modern mw series is very much showing realism when not in player control, obviously with some fictional tech here and there but for the most part pretty accurate because nothing is wrong with mixing unrealistic concepts into a story with real rules similar to life. Game of thrones s1-4 show that very well. You can have magic and shit and still have the rules work as long as you don’t break them, the only difference is this is a game not a show, meaning gameplay will still have to be entertaining. The saddest deaths are often sudden, someone dying out of nowhere makes you angry and sad and mournful all at once, most are mad because he’s gone and are going through the emotion meant to be brought out by his death the rest are just critics that have no bearing on storytelling and think that he “died like a side character” which is not event close, when in a story like this death can befall almost any character (honestly they pull too many punches imo) so wanting a death with a heartfelt goodbye in a game series where they have shown characters almost die or actually die without so much as a warning sometimes is silly

OMG WTF MAN? I was really looking foward to this game because I absolutely loved MW 2 especially this version of Soap him and Ghost stole the whole show. But they bloody kill him off again? And top off that not even an emotional finadl goodbye between him and Ghost? Fuck activsion man why wasn’t infinity ward in charge? I knew it was wayy too soon for MW. Gaz should've been the one to die because off the perosnal bond/father and relationship he has with Price,or they should've had the balls to kill of Price. This is just pathetic.

It was a sad death, Soap went out fighting as he deserved to be written. His death in the original MW3 was more heartfelt because of Price and his reaction but I like that Soap went out fighting.

Ghost had a real bond with him, even calling him Jonny. Like he was a little brother to him. I would have loved it there and then if Ghost gave chase after Makarov and left Gaz and Price to defuse the bomb.

I know everyone thinks Price will come back a beast but I genuinely think that Ghost is more of a tank. I'd love to see him tear a path through the PMC's next game to get to Makarov and finish him.
