Sony colour is better
ОтветитьGreat test! Are you planning to do a similar one but with the S5II against the A7RV?
ОтветитьGreat work!
Could you please do a stabilzation test like this with the Sony A6700 ?
Good info, good video. Thanks. toronto canada
ОтветитьI'm kind of surprised by it because my S5II has nowhere near as much warping. From 24mm up it's almost non existing.
ОтветитьThanks for the review. One factor to consider though is the price point diff. between the two cameras. The Sony a7iv costs much more than the Panasonic S5II, so from that frame of reference the Sony camera should outperform by 2X-3X better, nicht wahr? 😎😎
Ответитьgreat!
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you!
I'm surprised with the amount of edge warping on S5II.
Hi - please do not use IBIS when using Gyro Stabilisation in post on the Sony. The data will not write the IBIS camera-compensation into Gyro Data, so in Catalyst browse you will get shakes made by IBIS when using Gyro.
ОтветитьI think you're the best with this type of content because you dont lie about things you find out! I trust you! Thank you!
ОтветитьHi, i am concened about the S5II slow motion in 120FPS in 1080p. can you test slow motion in S5ii compared to A7sIII or Canon RII or A7IV?
ОтветитьThank you for the honest review. I've the s5ii incoming but am concerned on warping in corners on lenses wider than 20mm. Is this something that happens only during walking?
ОтветитьWhy not vs R6II? I think Canon stab is better than Sony's in walking with a 24mm
Ответитьjust wanted to say, well done video.
got 2 questions if you don't mind! 1. did you use all sony glass? I hear it works a lot better with active steadyshot.
2. have you found active steadyshot only works well on native glass? I thought I saw it working well on my 24mm from samyang, but after that I only own 35mm + , seems to improve hand held on my samyang 85mm. a lot of videos of it doing almost nothing on the tamron 17-28 for walking.
great review 🙌
Ответитьfor me amazing is this stabilization using sony app, there is magic happend :P it crops of course, but final result is gopro like :D i Use it with 50mm lens but shutter speed is not low :P
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this comparison, but also for showing the significant differences between Sony's standard stabilization vs active. It's a game changer! I've been doing my own tests and find my results similar to yours. In my tests, even 24mm is entirely smooth, although by 30mm things start to show some slight jitters. It's usable in a pinch, but barely. Thanks again for putting this together and sharing.
ОтветитьGreat! This year I’ll buy one of these...
ОтветитьPlease do low light comparison for filming cinematic shots. I am worried S5II will fall apart after 4K iso
Ответитьreally want to see when u put IS lends on to see the doul is it better
ОтветитьIt needs to be said that Richard Wong's stabilization test was incomplete with only one test.
Edit: he explained it, so I have edited this comment.
For what it is worth, on the original S5 (and S1) using Dual IS with a lens with stabilization (like the Panasonic 24-105 f/4 OIS) reduces corner warping significantly, when compared to a lens without stabilization (such as the 20-60mm). This is one of the reasons I continue to adapte the Canon EF 16-35 f/4 L IS on to my Panasonic bodies, since it has lens stabilization and the Panasonic 16-35 f/4 doesn't. I personally think that it's a mistake on Panasonic's part that there wide lenses (including the 18mm f/1.8 and the upcoming 14-28mm lens) don't have OIS lens stabilization.
ОтветитьThis is an amazingly thorough video and extremely well illustrated example of real-world usage on these cameras. I have the original S5 and had to move through some hallways in a building while shooting last year. I tried a few lenses but ended up just using the 20-60 zoom because it was lightweight and it was fast enough for the situation.. and worked great with my Weebill S gimbal.. it accommodated the weight fine. It just seems to me that using a gimbal that's easily accessible for around two hundred US dollars saves so much in the workflow over software and looks so much better than built-in stabilization for the most part.. I do concede that adding to your equipment setup is not always something that's easy to accommodate... Great video is always and will continue watching as you test through these things
Ответитьpanny typically brings a knife to gun fight; they haven't upgrade the 24mp sensor at all since the orig s5 (wtf). that tells you they don't give a shit about photography. this is a video geeks camera is all. if you want a balance full frame buy a sony a7 iv.
ОтветитьIt seems that Panasonic is overly sensitive. So it makes me even more suspicious. LOL
ОтветитьCan you please do a lowlight test a7iv Vs S5ii ..??
Its very important for a lot of people who want to make investment in either of these two systems..
A detailed lowlight comparison please..🙏🙏
I've been looking for a camera for short films and good pictures.
It's hard when you see 6 other cameras talk about the others being trash.
Great comparison, thanks a lot. Do you still have the Fujifilm X-H2? I think S5II and X-H2 are direct competitors since they have the same price tag and similar videocentric features.
ОтветитьGreat vid! Please do overheating comparison test if you can.
ОтветитьOn the walking tests, was that handheld or with a tripod? Thanh you!
ОтветитьI have the A7iv as a studio camera so I’m biased but that being said DAMN that Panasonic is an UGLY looking camera 😂
ОтветитьI think when it comes to video Panasonic does unlimited recording and has fan to cooling the camera but sony has limited video recording and camera gets overheated that is a big problem and big disadvantage and screen is full articulated but Sony doesn’t
ОтветитьThe good news is you wont depend on the stabilization in the way that they seem to be tested as. In the real world in actual use your covering a story, and if you have to run quite literally with that story, and the pieces is part of the final story, the view wont mind so much that its not perfectly stable. The camera operator will sure know when and where and what wont be usable for final delivery. In that case, both cameras do a good job for not being on a gimbal. Just don't expect any camera to replace a gimbal.
ОтветитьI have a9 with full of sony lens but I want to take still drag shutter speed without tripod,I thought s5ii is the best choice but your video make me consider a7iv aswell
For still which one your prefer only for still like ss 1-2" or I should go to olympus
I heard the Sony A7iv can record video with gyro data for potential post processing. Does the Panasonic S5 II have this?
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьThank you for the effort. This is the best comparison on YT on that subject. Please do A7RV in the future if you will be able to grab it. They say it's much improved so I really now wonder how that comparison with S5 II would be.
ОтветитьNow waiting for the A7R5 vs S5 II comparison in IBIS and dual stabe.
ОтветитьYour shadow why walking with the 20mm looked like you were rocking side to side.
Ответитьgreat very useful review, standout from the rest for ibis!
ОтветитьAmazing video that is so helpful once again. Thanks so much!!
ОтветитьPanasonic S5 II - IBIS with Stabilization Comparison, want to vomit, it makes you feel nauseous...With Sony A7 IV ibis+ Active mode, it moves more at Sony a7 IV but it's more natural and it doesn't make me want to vomit.
ОтветитьCorner on panasonic 🤦
Ответитьthe s5 and s5ii the best. thank you
ОтветитьThe Panasonic seems better overall. However, if you are Vlogging with a 20mm lens (ideal for me), maybe the Sony is the best choice. I can only assume because on a 20mm it’s within the Sony IBIS limits.
ОтветитьThis video shows one thing, reviewers need to put more emphasis on showing their settings. Too much videos showing any settings or only one settings. This are too little to draw any conclusions. Also be consistent with the testing method and know how the feature you are testing works.
ОтветитьWhy not use active is when walking with s5? Also the engineers reported that it works with 20mm+ only.
ОтветитьWould love to see how the ibis in a7Rv behaves 😁
