How do you counter I’m so confused do you block or swing with the same hit

I still don`t understand the difference. Riposte - you just press the block button when you see they attack and then you attack? Counter you are holding the block button before they attack and when the attack gets blocked you respond with the same attack?

so do you click the attack within a time window after the block to do a riposte? i understand what it is and why its used but its not clear what my fingers need to press

This is useful, but in practice I just tap right click before every attack no matter what and just let ‘er rip!

my problem is when im engaged in a sword battle theres always 3 other mfs coming towards me so its just annoying trying to do this😭

Im confused are you pressing the specific attack button while still holding L2 during the counter? Or are you letting go of L2 after the block and then pressing the same attack type as ur opponent?

Watched this cuz I thought I was confused on the concept but no I got it exactly right yet countering and riposte in actual gameplay hardly ever work

I counter (yellow shield) every time and then hit a swing button but almost always enemy blocks it.

Wait, the slashes etc dont need to be mirrored exactly? I've been trying to train my eyes to recognise right and left sided slashes and then pressing the corresponding button...often incorrectly. This makes things much more simple!

A counter is when you block and match the same attack as the enemy right? So what is a feint of that, just blocking again?
