Appreciate this environment and topics of discussion. I don’t shave as an older wombman now it really doesn’t matter . However I started shaving around puberty age just because of the culture around me. I stopped in my mid-20’s due to the reckoning with self that most of us go through. Thank you everyone for sharing, sometimes we are just so unaware of being unaware.

Corn culture is partially responsible. You can "see" the "shots" better without hair. Then as more people began using corn, that aesthetic became appealing. Also, there are many that are unhealthily attracted to a hairless (adolescent) look🤢

I shave my underarms once a week. I don't shave my legs at all, but the hair on my legs isn't that noticable. I shave or trim down there, if or when I feel like it. I have never done any of the things that a great deal of women do, ie. Makeup, waxing, eyebrows, nails, etc. I'm natural and comfortable in my skin. Being single is a bonus, cause now I REALLY don't have to impress anyone.

The more I listen to you, the more you make me feel silly for being this old and FINALLY coming into realization that I have been avoiding being MMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I want to be me. My hair, my body hair, my natural makeupless face, my beautiful light brown hair that shrinks to my ears, all that. No wonder I have anxiety going out when someone gives me an invite last minute because I know that means I have to do a lot of preparation to meet the standards of what’s going outside looks like in my eyes. It’s funny that it really takes a confident woman like you to open up the eyes of somebody in their mid 30s

My father attacked me when he say my body hair (my legs were not shaved and i wore shorts). To those who think it's not that serious either way, bodily autonomy starts at little things like body hair, and the wrong types will try to take even that from you.

My friend said I had gorilla legs because they are dark and hairy so then I went home and asked my mom if I could shave and we went to the store and got an electric razor so I wouldn’t accidentally cut myself. (btw I said I had gorilla legs first as a joke but when she agreed, it made me feel nasty but now I really like my hair and I always have but I didn’t want people to think I was gross but in reality it’s actually healthier.)

I was in grade 4 on a field trip when I was first shamed for body hair. I was playing and doing flips when a boy said “ew!! You have hair in your armpits!” And began laughing…I hadn’t even known I was growing hair there yet…I felt so ashamed and small. I haven’t shaved in 8 years now :) I love my body hair

In high school I wore shorts to dance class with my hairy legs and my class mate said “ewww you don’t shave” personally shaving is time consuming and body hair is better left alone for your health

Wow this video is very good! I'm Ashkenazi Jewish, so i grew body hair very young. Honestly the moment i noticed that i had hair on my legs and armpits i felt soo embarrassed and would secretly use my moms razor in the shower at suchhhhhh a young age. Like about 9 years old. I had a mustache before all the boys in my class lol and was super embarrassed about that too. Honestly looking back i feel so bad for that child and i wish she could have just been a kid instead of focusing on being ashamed of her body. Even now i wax my mustache off and get embarrassed when it grows in. But I'm trying to just embrace myself as i am. I love ur videos 💚

I don’t shave. Haven’t for years since accepting my security. My partner has helped me with self validation. We’ve helped each other. I Questioned it since middle school, but I still would shave periodically and since I played sports through middle and high school. I started sneaking my moms razor to shave my whole body when I was 10 years old because I would hear girls talking about shaving and how they felt uncomfortable not shaving. I didn’t start regularly trying to shave until high school and then college going out partying and finding my self . After college I still struggled with being insecure because of how harsh peoples judgment is. I’m natural (despite the wig in my old profile pic when I was working corporate) . I hate how society operates and ostracizes people for not conforming

I first started feeling shame about not shaving when I was just 8 years old. Boys at my school would say I was gross for having hairy arms, legs, and a mustache. My mom wouldn’t let me shave at the time, so I learned to shave my legs in secret. It’s sad that I felt like that at such a young age. Now, I don’t shave at all and I’m happy with my decision. I’m still learning to be confident in my body hair when I’m out in public though.
