HP Tuners Credits and Licensing Explained

Poor customer service. NO PHONE CALLS PERMITTED! I have considered purchasing one, and keep going back-and-forth with emails with different questions, and it takes an average of two or three days for each email. I am several weeks into this asking questions, when one phone call could’ve done it and I would’ve purchased it by now.

my new mpvi3 was a total ripoff.. thanks hp tuners, i just wasted $550 and cant tune my car.. no help from support either.

Have a 2 for 1 with new purchases. I know some tuners have deep pockets but some of us are not that rich.

I purchased mpvi3 from summit racing. HP support won't honor the trade in value for my MPVI I 6 credits ! They said they would transfer my two licenses over which I paid for twice .. I contacted HP support 4 different times because today and I cannot get the thing to transfer 2 more Credits I just purchased for the same vin number.....? I personally own all three of your hardware MPVI one MPVI 2 plus just purchased t Mpvi3 ... If I decide to spend $400 mpvi3 its hardware ....i decide to keep the other two my license should be transferred ! . If HP Tuners decides to upgrade their hardware Why should the customers have to keep purchasing new credits we already own the license software ... ???? i'm going to call summit racing complain and return mpvi3 ... Summit is a big company . you should be happy they're selling your product you should honor the same deal whether I buy it from you or Summit it's your product !!!!

So if I understand correctly, once I license my 2021 chrysler 300 3.6l touring L, I should be able to tune ANY chrysler 300? Or is it locked to the year?

My son had a friend tune his truck and now we have aMPVI3 and it tell us unlicensed vehicle are we doing something wrong or is it because it on his buddies Mpvi2

I miss obd1 the software itself could read and write the pcm. Just needed a basic cable.

What a GODDAMNED SCAM! (aka MAFIA PROTECTION SHAKEDOWN RACKET). Some unknown gang (aka 'investors') have paid the manufacturers (or 'HACKED' and 'CRACKED' THE VEHICLE'S SYSTEM) so they're 'the only game in town'. What happened to the RIGHT TO REPAIR? Businessmen like this are the CRIMINALS who have us all on their treadmill to oblivion! And it's all PROTECTED BY LAW. Imagine that?!

I bought hp tuners, bought 4 universal credits, opened vcm editor and this was after I had a verification code. Hit resync interface and when I looked at how many credits I had on license information it said "ZERO" I paid $200 and I have zero universal credits. I'm seriously very disappointed with HP TUNERS

HP Tuners has bricked my GM P01 PCM - (absolutely no comms now - not detected) so when I get a new ECM I will need 2 more credits? As will be a different serial number?

Do i need unlimited credits for 2017 Ford Focus 2.0 flex SE hatch, if i want to flash an after market TCM for a DPS6 transmission that I purchased, or do i need the dealer to flash it first?

I don't understand what it means when I click on the "i" next to the credits needed on the vehicle page. It says "unlimited year/model universal credits" and has a number next to it, typically a 6 or a 12. What is this trying to tell me?

I see why they've worked so hard to hide the real pricing on the site. So the ''buy credits for $49.99 button'' on the site is really to buy a ''single'' credit. At that rate I'd just take it to a shop and let them do it for 1/3rd the price. It's not worth it😂😂😂 or really more like 1/10th the price if you consider the $300+ interface and a laptop. Even better yet throw a carb on it and say F/O😂😂

I paid $100 for the necessary credits I would need for a vehicle, then I took a file that was made for another vehicle nearly identical, to use as a baseline rather than figure everything out from scratch wasting tons of time, made the necessary changes to to a couple items in the speedo calibration, SAVE AS a new file to be written to my vehicle, and guess what....NOPE. My credits are gone, says I my vehicle is unlicensed, must buy more and figure out where I went wrong in this completely unintuitive process they have concocted.

Typical greedy software company. I used to work in this industry. I know it too well. Do not miss it in the least.

Let's say my MPVI3 dies and it is outside of the warranty period. Would the credits that I purchased be transferrable to that new device or would I need to purchase additional credits?

Do I need to purchase credits for each Tuner I decide to use? Meaning, If I wanna use 3 siff tuners so 3 diff credit purchase?

Maybe I am thinking outside the box but you pay thousands of dollars for your vehicles, then pay for equipment and software downloads. Then you realize that every single vehicle you own will cost you 100-400 dollars to get the license to tune your own vehicles. I called and priced having my vehicles dyno tuned and its around the same price. Seems like the price outweighs the benefits. how are the shops making money on tunes. what kind of discounts are they getting. seems like they would sell more product if they were reasonable. Licenses do not have overhead costs to or shipping since it is NOT a physical product. I guess that is why so many people just order tunes and only have to transfer them.

My vehicle requires two credits. So once I purchase the MPIV2+ and two credits, is there a limit to how many tunes or changes I upload to the ECU? Each uploaded tune or change doesn't cost an additional credit correct?

my questions is , i have bought 4 credits that i had used on the same year/generation 99-07 silverados if i buy 2 more credits will that give me the option for the Unlimited Year/Model GM for 99-07 silverado? or will i have to buy all 6 credits at one time?

So I had a interface that failed and sending it back to HP tuners and I bought a new interface plugged it into my ECM/laptop and I want to write to that ECM but I cannot do that because it has license to that interface the question I have is how do I remove the license from those ECM so I can write to those ecms with a new interface

I have HP Tuners on 2004 Dodge Cummins. LoveD it! ... Until I had a problem with it randomly rolling in max timing intended for high boost at low/no boost and low rpm, making the truck inoperable... And then HP wouldn't help me figure out how their program was corrupting my ecm. I found the only correlation was that Scanner was recording 1.63 in Transient/Steady state, and my problems were happening 5-15 minutes after operation began, not the second or two during the transition from 'transient' to 'steady' state... And my problems would be constant at high elevation, until I returned the truck back to stock. No help from HP. My truck is okay around town, but I cannot go out of town with it, because the ecm will corrupt and shut me down.

So much potential, and on my truck, as well as a friend's '05 Dodge Cummins, it renders the truck useless.

Its more money for every laptop you use? That's dumb.

Is it tied to a laptop? I have an old Windows 7 laptop. Will it work on that? If not, I would have to use my son's laptop until I could buy a new one. Would I be able to transfer tune files and the tuning suite in that case?

I have a older mpvi pro. I purchased it when you guys where only doing gen 3 stuff back back in the day. If I needed a new mpvi2+ would I need to buy a new setup or could I buy the mpvi2+ dongle?

Love HPtuners but would be nice for maybe some downloadables on how to tune! The tuning school is expensive and doesn’t help! I would be interested in a HPtuners classes online or download the classes!
