This is so damn hard for a noob with a tin ear. I recommend total noobs like me starting with nursery rhymes and really simple, one note melodies. And trying to figure them out, note by note. They're also usually all major notes.

I listen to metal, some songs are tuned down, some aren’t. How do I know if I should be tuning down to find a specific note?

I’m in a weird area where I like the “ just feel it out man” style but I also am fascinated by the technical and mathematical way music works approach.

There’s such a thing as getting really good at doing something bad or wrong. Find what your brain does best but also train harder what it struggles with. Trial and error

I always wondered how to learn music by ear then I started thinking wait I remember learning tunes from obscure places where there was no such notations for them at all and I figured them out when I was just a beginner. Then I kept thinking well we recall and hum tunes play desk hand drums to our favorite songs all the time. Doh!
