Hello! I’m a senior citizen…. And find your tutorial BRILLIANT. I’m a “dummy” and I understood it completely!
I have an OLD Windows 7 laptop I need to back up to a 2022 external hard drive. 1. How do I make my laptop “find” the new hard drive?
Do I have to download anything first?
2. There are thousands of files I need to send to the portable hard drive. I realize it will take a loooong time. Won’t my laptop “quit” or go to “sleep?”
How do I get it to keep going on the task without interruption…. Without “quitting”?
Yes, I know this tutorial is 10 years old, so I’m hoping you still get notifications of comments/questions!

I did the backup, waited hours...it’s finished. When I open the hard drive from the “computer” to view it....there is nothing there except a few empty folders 😑

@ instructorgadget since this video is old dont know if i get a reply i am planing on upgrading to windows 10 but to stop all my data being reset after doing so i am gona copy my hard drive data/memory to a external hard drive but i want to do it without copying my current windows 7 over. Mostly because i do not want windows 7 back on my pc after transferring the copied data/memory back to original hard drive after windows 10 is installed and having windows 7 override it.


how do i do it witheout copying windows 7 over aswel.
