FF, Librewolf is probably mostly people who has found themselves tired of being spied on and sold like some sort of digital prostitute with a pimp.

And already have moved over to Linux. Linux literally exposed me to that something called Librewolf exist.

Would not know about it without so much being called something with Libre on Linux. Libreoffice for a start. I was using brave for a while, but then I checked up something with less clutter. And what had best privacy.

Hardened FF, Librewolf, Thor browser. Tried out Librewolf because "not chromium", and pretty much was a default hardened Firefox without the extra work.

I did do changes to go even further with it though 🙂

Like you I have used Firefox now for way over a decade, I've always found it responsive, non invasive and very customisable.

I don't think it'll make a difference here but you should ideally Shift+R in these situations when reloading, to find a difference. Very often the browser fetches from cache

That snippet of code being everpresent doesn't mean its being executed or withheld by surrounding code, I can personally attest that switching my user agent to chrome makes it stop happening.

until we can damn near guarantee that everyone can use what should be considered a social utility, like the internet itself, a search engine to actually find things on the internet, your what might aswell be the only video hosting website on the internet, without having to worry about not being able to pay for food, rent, car payments, health insurgence, etc. then i think these things should be a public utility paid for my taxes. corporate fuckery of these things really isnt any better than government fuckery, assuming they arent just both cooperating against us at this point.
atleast socialized healthcare is affordable unlike most healthcare in the US, so why dont we do the same with the internet? having the only options be pay every step of the way for every tiny thing, or give up on most of the digital things you enjoy is a depressing Sophie's Choice that we shouldnt even have to make.
i feel like most people who advocate that nothing on the internet should be "free" would very quickly want to take that stance back once every single website they visit ends up charging a five dollar subscription fee per month, like if every road was a toll road..

Can anyone point me in the right direction for someone who teaches beginner computer classes? I have a few months of free time & i would like to learn more about computers. Get into maybe like some c+(+), some coding, telephone trunk lines, maybe even how to learn about & how to use linux? Im not a complete novice, but close to it. Im 45, i grew up with the internet, i can reformat a harddrive and install windows os. Ive built a couple computers back in the early 2000s, i know what a power supply is, i know what ddr 2, 3, 4 is etc. I know alittle about hardware, meaning im not COMPLETELY ignorant but im definitely a novice & would like to learn more about computers, software, coding, programming etc. Does anyone know of a decent channel that could help me learn about these things by chance? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated 🙏. Hope everyone has a great holiday season. Thank you, Be well and stay safe.

Forget browsers, it's a whole new Internet that we need. What we currently have is a conflagration of information that makes the prolific book burning of 1930s Germany look like child's play.
It used to be great. 1996-2002 R.I.P. Internet.

I remember using Mozilla before it was Mozilla Firefox. I grabbed it as an alternative to Netscape Navigator. IE wasn't something I really wanted to go into, and I didn't like what Netscape was turning into--a dumpster fire, as it turns out.

I feel bad now for accusing Google of breaking antitrust law.

It's their platform, if they want to mitigate adblockers, they're allowed to.

Could just be a five second delay on all videos with ads, with ads themselves not being delayed. This way, people don't notice since the delay passes while the ad plays. However, for people who just block the ad, it doesn't have that buffer.

I honestly don't like Mozilla overall. But is the lesser evil, it has changed too much from what it was and it is doing evil things to keep doing a good thing. I mean they are half selling out like having google as the default search engine for example so I wish to see a new party join the fray.

The 5 second delay could just be a simple fix to ensure the ad loads before the video plays. Obviously different browsers will handle the ad differently. The bit of code looks simple but i believe the "resolve" is a math equation that is somewhat complicated and will probably slow things down a bit. So the reddit guy saying it does nothing but delay is kinda a lie. The fact that he is angry about a 5 second delay in code makes me think that he has never coded anything to run on a microcontroller or something even slower like a Apple phone.

I still use Firefox, vastly customized and tweeked but I see no issues other than the upgrade popup constantly popping up. I see no other issues and delays at the moment. I'm looking for them now. I remember in 2008 or 2009 when everyone thought Google Chrome was the next big thing and niave teenagers pounced on it. Just some suspicion and waryness on the internet goes a long way. Even if you use a suspect software, you at least choose to participate. I have binned long time use software when they forced updates and participation.

User Agent Switcher lets you spoof Chrome. Firefox is lavishly funded by Google and little of that goes into the browser so feel zero guilt about that.
The main reason by far to use Firefox are the extensions developed by the community so study them. I get no delays on my machines or VMs but I use enough different blocking methods I don't bother to pick out which blocks what. PiHoles (can be run in VM) are worth study and an old notebook is a fine place to run one to protect your LAN.

With Firefox's dependence on Google funding it seems rather obvious why Firefox might be worse than it technically needs to be...

How are they not customers? if the viewer is using a google account in conjunction with an ad-block YT/Google still takes the metric viewing data and uses it at their discretion to include selling that data.

I used to use the Netscape aka pre Firefox back in the day until those guys from Netscape developer shutdown and developed Firefox web browser. I have been using them ever since and avoid Google Chrome as much as possible…unless your school campus like my tells you to run Chrome because the software needs Chrome. 🙄
