E46 How to reset your Instrument Cluster properly.

Hey Alex- the tacho on my E46 was indicating 9000rpm even when the car was off (it basically became the new 0 position). Your reset video helped, thank you!

After spending $850 at a shop to solve an emissions problem (turned out they needed to replace a DMTL and the two rubber grommets on the carbon canister linkage line). Two days later I picked up my car and about four hours later noticed my tachometer pegged at full open when running the engine. The shop service representative told me the mechanic did extensive electrical diagnostics to rule out an electrical problem, including blocking the voltage fluctuations from the tachometer(!), but denied they had caused the tach malfunction. They said it was out of order when the car was brought in. I was furious! After running your simple procedure, the tach works perfectly, as before. Thanks!

So dose the car have to be in idle mode or fully turned on in order for this to work? Because mine is having the same problem and wanted to try this before replacing the whole cluster

I unlocked the hidden features, but when I get to 21 it never says reset. I've done this about five times. What is odd is my cluster part number is (test 1.2) 690237 and not 690236. So now I'm wondering if there are two different procedures. 2000 BMW 323Ci (convertible)

Thanks bro, it makes set the clock on dashboard back before shown the temperature outside, my e46 318 doesn’t have the button of OBC to change clock-temperature-miles.
