On this day in 1982 {January 23rd} the Go-Go's performed "We Got The Beat" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand' One week later on January 30th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #2 {for 3 weeks} and spent 19 weeks on the Top 100 It reached #3 on the Canadian RPM Top Singles chart and #29 on the Australian ARIA Singles chart The three weeks it was at #2; the #1 record was "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}
Ответитьactually she's in NYC
ОтветитьBOTH versions are awesome. Actually I think on the better known single the bass sounds clearer. In any case the tune in itself is a win.
ОтветитьDottie Danger
Ответитьany version the gogos sing of this song totally rules!!
ОтветитьI get the feeling that some people would like this even if it was nothing but white noise. "I don't go for that pop crap. I love nothing but white noise. I make the music with my mind because I'm an advanced hipster. The unwashed masses make me sick. I'm so much better than they are. I'm so far above the rabble that I might as well be God."
ОтветитьSick! Love the garage factor. Belinda used to hang out with the Germs.
ОтветитьPs thanks for upload

ОтветитьThis is like when you're wife comes home with a totally different look like radically different hair/glasses or something. You know deep down it's still the same great woman but it's like you're seeing her in a whole new way. Can't believe I never heard this cut, it kicks ass!
ОтветитьInteresting version to a classic. Don't believe I ever heard this one before. Nice. Thanks for uploading this rare gem.
Ответить'Odessey'
ОтветитьI’d love to slowly ass fuck the striped shirt drummer.
ОтветитьI love punk rock and I am a huge fan of The GOGOs
ОтветитьI grew up with the album version and this is so much better!. Wish I could go back in time to 1979 or 1980 and see them live in LA !
ОтветитьWAY BETTER than the Album Version. POWERFUL!

ОтветитьI remember hearing this version on 92.7 WLIR Long Island dare to be different
ОтветитьThe demo version (1980)kills the rest. .....
ОтветитьLiked the video to put it above 666 likes
ОтветитьThis was their first single (b/w "How Much More"), released on UK's Stiff Records. "If it ain't Stiff, it ain't worth a fcuk" was their classic t-shirt slogan! Because of early KNAC/Long Beach and KROQ airplay in 1980 they got noticed and signed by I.R.S. Records...and the rest is herstory.
ОтветитьThis sounds like The Sex Pistols with Belinda singing. This is freakin' great!
Ответитьi love Belinda!!!
ОтветитьI have this 45; bought it right after I heard it a dance club in 1980.
ОтветитьSuch a great band!!

ОтветитьWow! Much more punkier than the 1981 version!
ОтветитьI wish they had kept this sound over the pop thing they went with soon after.
ОтветитьI have this single. We used to dance our asses off to this! Kicks the LP version to the curb and stomps on it!
