Wow that's a nice long range. I'm going to buy the home base 3, but not with those cameras. I'm trying to wait until some of their existing cameras come on board the homebase 3. I have two eufy products. A doorbell wireless, which Efuy says WILL be compatible and Floodlight Cam Pro 2 that has 360 tracking. I intend to get another of the Floodlight cams for another location around my home.

Keeps me very nosy and informed

Purchasing this cctv it promised to deliver uncompromising results.
Initially it did. Crystal clear imaging and it seemed a cut above the rest, as ive previously owned numerous systems over the years.
However after 2 weeks the cameras failed to record key events. Unfortunately Eufy's customer services was poor at best. I sent several emails with no response so sadly I returned the system for a full refund.

Excellent review. I currently have a POE system that works well, but is a bear cat to set up. The coverage about range was great. The only thing not covered was how much strain does it put on the PC? Mine really gives the CPU a work out.

Ok, so I am confused. A lot of reviews and articles I’ve read said you can only link the Eufycam 3's to the home base and not the router, and people are only getting 30’ to 50’ LOS range. I actually found all of that out AFTER watching your review, and I was under the impression that you were using a mesh system or something in kind to get that distance, which is exactly what I was going to use to for a similar "whole property" application. Could you please elaborate on how you achieved your range? Is it because you plugged into your router in lieu of a modem? Or is there some other sorcery afoot here that a Luddite like myself is missing? Thanks.

Any update on how it performed in the winter?

How is the range from base station to cam? Example 4 sides to 3000 sq ft house. Base station in middle with 4 cams on all sides. Does it work? I read 30 ft max. Is that accurate?
If the range is no good, can I buy a second base and ethernet cable it to the router or a mesh node with a LAN port?

I’ve been watching a lot of security camera videos lately. This one was by far the best. Lots of useful information and no fluff. Two questions. Can you plug the cameras into a separate Eufy solar panel? I would mount mine in the shade. Can one use a solid state drive in the home base?

Can the cameras pick up license plates at night???

I envy you man. What a great location to live. Montana perhaps? Miles of view without the hassle of city life. I wish I would have thought more about this when I approached retirement age.

Good Video w/ good pointers! Thanks! I've had my worst trouble so far, trying to get everything paired in 2.7 ghz as apposed to 5 ghz. Fiber is great but not for this. Remember, turn that 5 ghz OFF before pairing any of this!

Good video Pete - thank you. No one is explicitly addressing the question of home cameras are communicating with the HomeBase. It looks like the cameras are NOT using your home WiFi network. Instead, cameras are connecting to HomeBase via its own sub 1GHz signal. The benefits are known...but the limitation is that you cannot extent the Homebase signal to remote locations in your home. Am i understanding this correctly?

When someone enters the camera’s area of detection, how long does it take to actually make the detection, how long does it take to start recording and how long does it take to get a notification? Does Eufy also offer cloud as well? One last question, once the base is set up, does it have to remain physically connected to your router, or can you disconnect and relocate the base somewhere else in your home? Thanks again.

Very helpful. I have similar property in Colorado and wanted a camera down near end of my driveway 300 feet or so away. You were only reviewer to show the true distance example. My house is similarly on the top of a hill so my property's base station should have clear line of sight a long ways. I have been trying to figure out how I was going to power a camera at the end of my driveway with no power, this solar power system is perfect. Thanks

So you have been through a winter now Pete, can you give us an update on how the system performed please ? Very cool to see how far the wifi signal can travel under ideal circumstances, but the motion trigger max distance is of more importance i think. Im hearing 30 feet - sure hope thats wrong !

And yet, with all their security issues last year, they still don't have the ability to lock the mobile application. Disgraceful.

Hi Pete, has anyone asked you about winter weather update on the batteries? Great review the range information of the cameras drew me to your video.

I have had Eufy 2 cameras and Hombase with 16GB solid state storage for 2 years now, it is so easy to download or share videos ( by email etc ) from phone app that I have never gone over 1GB and tend to leave it no more than a couple of days before reviewing and clearing the stored memory - I fitted a separate solar panel for the busiest camera at front of house and even in UK winter it never went below 70% - and the video clips are 120 seconds long, normally over 70 videos per day... The camera at rear of house I ran a USB cable from camera into the attic and can hook up to a charger every 6 months ( once charge gets below 40% ). Homebase well hidden in the attic, no point in making it easy for anyone to run off with all the video storage. If wi-fi goes out the system still records because of wireless between cameras and Homebase, but if mains power goes off Homebase obviously no good. There is a battery for about $50 that sits under homebase and can give up to 8 hours power backup. I like the stand-alone wireless PIR sensors that Eufy sell to hook up to Homebase and can be mounted anywhere ( need to keep water off them, covers available on ebay ) they have a 2 year replaceable battery and can trigger any one or all the cameras to make recordings.

But all it takes is for someone to steal a camera and you lose all access to the footage from that camera even though its still on the base station? What kind of design is this?? They don't even have to steal the camera if they don't want to either, all they have to do is hold that pair button down on the back of the camera and BAM, all footage from that camera is lost.

Great video, Pete. I have watched about 10 of these about the Eufy cams, and this is by far is the most informative.

I get it that it will go to my phone but what about a larger display? Will it connect to my computer and display on its monitor?
