UK has by far the weakest claim on any part of Antarctica by pure fact of distance from it. UK is in the far Northern hemisphere (no, the Falklands doesn't count as some far southern territory that the UK can use to claim anything and it's ludicrous to even try but they will). Russia has zero need to drill for any resources in Antarctica as they have the vast majority of the arctic circle as their territory and it is very rich in natural resources and Russia is even further away than the UK so no, Russia couldn't give a rats behind about Antarctica except for research purposes. By far the strongest and legitimate claims are Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand. No one else has any real claim to any part of Antarctica except for greed. America just wants it for their greed and strategic military purposes. Just like UK, Russia and many others, America has no legitimate claim to any of it and they know it. Only the four countries I mentioned live in the southern hemisphere a stones throw away from Antarctica.
