Google Pixel 7a One Month Review | Why Go Flagship?

Thanks for checking out my Pixel 7a one month review! If you've got one of your own, let us know what you reckon - is it as good as I say, or am I spewing a bunch of badger barse?

I actually purchased a 7a. Initially I didn't like the 7 series design, but the design grew on me to a point where I really like it . Got mine brand new from Argos during the black Friday deal sales, plus used a few Nectar points, for a grand total of £279. To me the battery is great, lasts me a day ( for my type of use) it doesn't overheat ( I'm from the UK) Re- display auto peak brightness I find it really good . I discovered you have to let auto brightness adapt and learn your usage, and then the brightness will really zoom up- definitely a tad over 1000 nits. It' appears to have a brighter peak brightness than my other phone which claims to reach 1200 nits. So clear and easy to see during really bright sunny conditions.

It is that unremovable search bar that prevents me from buying that phone.
Absolutely hate it

I went for the Pixel 7 because the sale price was the same as a 7a with a charger.

So I have a pixel 6 and it's old and the battery doesn't last now. I didn't want to pay for the pixel 8 and I dont see too much difference between 7 and 7a so, I've ordered the white one and it arrives tomorrow!

I used pixel 4a for 3 years , after that screen got damaged and it was very hard to get it repaired as there is no service center in my city , also they told me it will take almost 10000 to repair it , refurbished pixel 4a is available in 12000😢
So I dropped plan of buying pixel 7a and bought Samsung s21fe instead

Just got one for my little girl brand new sealed for £200 I have never been so happy to spend £200!

Seeing a concert next month. Need fast advice. The room will be somewhat dark- will this be good for video capturing during concerts? (Dim lights and audio?)

Google pixel 7a. Well, it's not that cheap to start with. A bit too chunky in my hand, they claim 5G connectivity yet it feels like 4G at most, it's slow and frustrating.
Fingerprint/Face unlock doesn't work most of the time.
The battery isn't that good either.
On positive side it has great camera and audio quality is good. Google pay works the best.
I wish I had bought mid-range samsung instead.
I really loved my iphone13mini but the camera was awful and the format was different and I eventually got sick of it. Now I wish I had kept it.
Samsung phones do have massive bloatware I hate, but they are zippy, even those older, mid-range phones with 4G connectivity are a lot faster than pixel 5G.
But I would say one thing. You don't need to buy a flagship phone.

Honest question: Who gets all the phones when you don't use them anymore?

Under £500 quid is budget? Squeezing 24hrs? Small? Can't anyone do as practical a phone as motorola G4, but add the bits it was missing, like NFC, etc. Give it a better screen, longer battery life, more memory and storage, and perhaps better camera, fingerprint-reader, but keep the same form factor?

I personally prefer big bezels, and the new a model is finally usable for me since it supports dual sim mode (which was what kept me on the 4a all this time)

September 2023...Just ordered an "excellent" Refurb 7a on ebay for £225 (was £280, but they had a 20% off voucher)... i was going to wait a week for te Pixel 8, but thats £600, and i don't think the 7a will be under £280 new anytime soon...so i hope i get a good one, security updates until May 2028 is a big draw for me.

Auto brightness allows the brightness to go up higher than manual brightness

Very tempted. Heard it gets hot and therefore battery life suffers (and your hand)

I don't know if times have just changed, I've got poorer, or I've changed but I don't consider $500 budget.

I consider $100-$150 budget maybe $200 max.

Maybe I'm unreasonable, I'm not saying more expensive phones are not worth it, just the price range of budget. In fact I don't think I've ever spent $200 on a phone in my life, and I'm 32 I'm kinda OK with buying used flagships a year or two down the road for serious savings.

I would personally consider $500 to be a very expensive phone, at least to me in regards to what I've historically spent. I don't mind waiting awhile for a good deal, heck I picked up the Pixel 6a this week for $45 new from Metro. Nothing against more expensive phones just no reality where I would consider $500 budget is all.

That's 2x if not 3x more than I've spent on any phone, I just hate the era we live in where everything has become so much more expensive in the past 10 years.

Great video as usual. I'm interested in picking this up (€400 with my service provider) although also interested in the Oppo Reno 10 5G (30 quid less). Torn, and looking for advice on which is the better buy! Currently using my phone a lot for pics, bit of browsing, etc. Which would you recommend?

Ive got the picel 7 and 6a , the display are piss poor in daylight. You need to run on max and they get red hot. Battery takes ages to charge and does not last a day. The only saving grace is the camera.

You can buy a propriatory 30 watt Pixel charger. Big improvement.

one big stickler for me is the fact that it's only 120gb, hardly any storage at all and all my music is 65gb, that's already half the storage of the phone. Call me old fashioned but expandable storage should never have been a removed feature.

Im planning to get my dad to buy the 5a! Im a forever fan of pixel. I just am in love with its stock android skin and the design of the later phones.

Pixel phones just feel phenomenal to use and then the camera is just on another level from anything else out there.

If you have it on auto brightness and you go outside you'll get up to 1,000 nitsa brightness

They should do a version with biger memory, 128 gb is ok but not enough for me, that is why i choose motorola edge 30 fusion over pixel 6A

Unfortunately google went with the stupid large phone trend. I keep my Pixel 4a until Google makes them small again or I switch to iphone.
