So much history!
ОтветитьIts a small ship , raise both and perserve them both in structure's like the Mary Rose and Vesa , These ships should be perserved as priceless national treasures for both Canada and Great Britain ! Do this for this and future generations !
ОтветитьI hope they get everything before any big storms hit them.
ОтветитьIf the Inuit were important in finding this wreck why did it take 170 years to do it?
ОтветитьWhy is it said that the wrecks and artifacts belong to the canadian government. These are UK navy ships, surely the artifacts, any human remains and gold belong to the UK goverment.
ОтветитьFor me, maritime history is what fascinates me the most.
Ответитьall those poor men met such a horrible fate.. may god bless their souls.
ОтветитьI don't get it, the Inuit claim half the find, what does that mean? Just half, not all....anyways, I don't see the any Inuit divers there spending money on the recovery. I know there's no real value there except for maybe a few museum pieces so why bother making that claim two or three times in this vid?
ОтветитьBeggars belief that they can be seen from above the water yet have only just been discovered
Ответитьwow
ОтветитьWhat great footage and information rendered sadly though by a robotic, bureaucratic voice.
ОтветитьWhen exploring the hold, the divers should keep an eye out for a sealed barrel. I recall Admiral Horatio Nelson’s remains were shipped part of the way home in a barrel of brandy, mixed with ethanol. No doubt, some of the officers of Erebus knew about this as well and might have done something similar.
ОтветитьQuestion, why is it Inuit and not The Inuit?
ОтветитьSince both ships were found in "shallow" water, is there evidence they've been somewhat dragged by pack ice / icebergs ? Underwater I mean
ОтветитьThese artifacts should go to the families of the deceased if they still have an active bloodline. I do not agree with govts claiming ownership over something bc "they found it", they already have the opportunity to document it, now turn it over to.the blood relatives. The practice of seizing items by govts expands to private lands etc. The govt totally sucks mf, as jack black would say. Private property is all Canada has left, and that's not even completely real anymore.
ОтветитьAmazing!
ОтветитьHave you folks considered raising and preserving the ship? Think of the Mary Rose 😊
Ответитьgloria commenting; JOINTLY OWNED by the government of canada AND INUIT NATIONAL TRUST??? It was a BRITISH navy ship. What about the descendants of the officers and crew?? DESCENDANTS YET LIVING???
Ответитьthank you for the dedication of this.
ОтветитьJust raise the bleeding ships and artefacts. This project is taking far to long.. You need to update us.
Canadian Maritime Archaeology is lacking leadership and a will to see these ships raised and put on show....
Love the way the mentioned who owns the artifacts the modern world sucks sometimes
ОтветитьI'm not sure what the Inuits have to do in this story though.
ОтветитьThis is fascinating. Please keep us updated with the discoveries. Great work everyone.
ОтветитьWhat “ Ace” work
Parks. Amazing Erebus
brought back to “ life”
Surely this wreck could be recovered intact by a marine salvage company, making the exploration of the wreck and any artefacts considerably easier.
Ответитьok whos this inuit bloke you keep talking about, must be popular
ОтветитьThe Franklin Expedition was the story that made me want to become a scuba diver. 100+ dives later, im thrilled that this is happening!
ОтветитьI’m glad the ships were found. It may give us some insight as to the final days. We know the ships were stuck in the ice. We know the crews abandoned the ships. We know the men dragged the boats with provisions. We also know the men were tired and malnourished. We also know many were suffering from lead poisoning and tuberculosis. We also know the men were not clothed properly. It is a harsh environment with the weather and being malnourished. The ships were state of the art at the time.
ОтветитьI hope the archeology is going to continue?? It was put on hold because of silly Covid, but it must still have a bunch of secrets to be revealed.
ОтветитьIf you want to protect something like this you need to keep the exact coordinates a secret because a lot of people are awful and love some treasure hunting and artifact collecting which will eventually lead to destroying of those artifacts
ОтветитьSorry but the music is too busy and too loud! Feels like we are all running to keep up with the vital information being shared. I'm out of breath!
ОтветитьHms David Thompson 👎
ОтветитьI love how Canada is showing respect to the Inuit people. I now have reading to do. This is amazing.(American citizen)
ОтветитьWhy do the Royal Navy ships and their contents now belong to Parks Canada and the Inuit?
ОтветитьIt really detracts from an otherwise informative video presentation when music is being played. Please stop that annoying nonsense!
ОтветитьCanada, the country (the MOST beauteous in the world, without equal) vs Canada the insatiably leftist, politically correct population, perhaps the most unhinged in western civilisation ( eg. What the dickens have the Eskimos to do with the Franklin Expedition!?)
Little wonder that C*UNT, Dustbin Trudeau, is STILL ...PM
I should think that sea-floor objects retrieved from a wreck would belong to England's Royal Navy.
ОтветитьIncredible. Thank you to all involved for all your wonderful work in retrieving and preserving these historical finds for future generations to come.
ОтветитьListening to this you'd never think these were British Royal Navy ships staffed completely by British sailors who'd never even seen or heard of a Canada.
ОтветитьSeeing those epaulettes was amazing
ОтветитьThere not owned by anyone
ОтветитьSo, why there are no new expeditions? Money ended? I am monitoring the situation about 2 years and there are no news. Does everyone forgot about 2 ships in arctic waters?
ОтветитьYOU PROMOTE PARKS CANADA TO MUCH. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PARKS CANADA, PARKS CANADA, PARKS CANADA,
SHUT UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The real secret being withheld, is where was the body of Sir John Franklin buried. One theory was that his body was kept in state in the great cabin. Another is that he may have been given a seaman's burial the ocean. Most theory's say he was probably interred on land, but where?
ОтветитьAwesome find, but let them rest in peace. 🪦 🇬🇧
Ответитьthey should have waited for seasonal conditions such as in this video.
ОтветитьA lot of talk of the involvement of the Inuit and the need to respect and get their permission in all these videos regarding the Franklin Expedition.
Zero mention of the descendant families of those lost souls. They have not been consulted?
I speak as a descendant of the last surviving member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A man who would settle in the 1840’s in what is now called Franklin California.
The very idea that the families of those lost have yet to be consulted and a general dismissive disrespect to Their legacy disgusts me.
Man, imagine finding the log book....
